Pump oil viscosity.. what the heck!

My karcher/shark pump calls for 10w 40 non detergent, but all I can find is straight 30 non detergent… called support and the lady on the phone says it’s ok to use straight 30 nd… anyone have any insight? After I did that job yesterday, i noticed my oil in the pump was below the sight mark. Oye… lol

Ever check your oil after driving your car? Most of the oil is throughout the pump so check your manual to see if it requires a cold check to be sure levels are satisfactory, id also ask to have what she said in writing so it don’t void any warranty you may have,

When the pump was hotter she was just a touch above the sight line, but after the job that level was below the sight mark enough to where it needed to be topped. There was what looked like to be some sweat near the breather valve as if maybe it sweated some of the oil out… I’m still new to these big commercial pumps so… I read the manual when i got it but I’ll have to read through it again to see if it has anything pertaining to that issue. Most of the manual is all troubleshooting and stuff that wouldn’t seem to relate to a brand new unit, but couldn’t hurt to read through it again.

When changing oil once you have it filled halfway on the sight glass start the machine, let it run for a minute, let oil settle, and add more if needed. After filling with new oil there could’ve been a small air pocket that worked its way out when you started it and ran it thus making it look like you lost oil. I treat oil changes in all equipment just like vehicles. You always have to start an engine so the oil gets into the pump, filter, and all nooks and crannies. You pretty much always have to add a little more to top it off.
