Proportioner suction hose questions

So the way I have my box truck set up, I’m going to need about 8 feet of hose for SH and water line. My soap line would only need maybe 3 feet.

My understanding is that I need SH and water to be the same length, but does my soap need to be 8 feet as well In order to make everything meter correctly? If it’s shorter I’m going to be drawing more correct? Is that a problem? I’d assume it might be if most people only have it set to 1 or less while using it.

Midwest says 4-5ft max length but that just ain’t happening…should I be worried?

Using a 5.5 everflo pump in case that matters.

Would it be easier to just add surfactant to your bleach tank?

As @dcbrock said, just add soap directly to your bleach tank. Takes some guess work out. The lines for my water are significantly longer than bleach and I’ve never noticed any problems. After you use your machine for a while you’ll feel it out and know where you’ll need to set your SH at.

Just make them all the same and either coil the excess hose up or just zip tie it along something to straighten all of it out. The whole point of a proportioner is being able to adjust mixtures on the fly. Need more soap? Turn a valve. Need more SH? Turn a valve.

I have a midwest setup and i run my housewash surfactant in my bleach tank. This way its always ready to downstream. I am running about 8 - 9 gallons of sh to one ounce sufactant.

If you do a steep roof have some thicker surfactant ready for your proportioner.

The soap line length really wont affect the draw rate all that much. The thickness of the surfactant will affect it way more. Just adjust accordingly.

I haven’t tested it but i cant imagine the length of the water and sh lines affecting the ratio all that much once the lines are full. Now that is assuming no extra restrictions on one or the other. Like mentioned already if your really concerned just match the length and tie the extra off. Dont get too caught up in the % on the dial just use what works.

In your case since you have better odds finding gold than sh you should be using dwell time and a good surfactant to reduce your usage.

I mean I could do that, but I have a limited amount of elemonator to use and after that nothing bleach stable. Don’t want the rest of my stuff turning my 55 gallons of SH into pancake mix.

It would make sense in the long run to have surfactant separate in order to keep everything as fresh as possible especially since I am unsure about sourcing elemonator up here regularly. (Grabbed 10 gallons while driving box truck up)

Man that’s a lot of Elemonator! I go through a five gallon pail roughly in a year, but hopefully you’ll be busier than I am!

I figured it was smarter to grab more than less with me not bringing box trucks through. How much are you using in your house wash mix? It says to use an ounce a gallon, but I read on here to use way less if you don’t want to rinse for 8 years so I was figuring I’d try 3 or 4 ounces per 15 gallons and see how that went first.

I’m still around 3/4 - 1 oz per a gallon typically, but I also supplement with a capful of Arm & Hammer w/ Oxi Clean per a 15 gallon batch.

My SH + surfactant mix lasts weeks and weeks with no probs.

Take 5 gallons of SH. Put the appropriate amount of Elemonator in there. Let it sit for a month. See how it does.

This is what I’ve got a good amount of aside from the 10 gallons I just picked up of elemonator on the way up. I have not had luck finding anyone willing to ship anything bleach stable so after my 10 gals of elemonator are done it’s back to the drawing board. Used this stuff all last year and it definitely thickens up the SH and makes it gross after a day or two.

So you’ve called just about every place that’s been mentioned on this site and none will ship to Alaska?

I did a little sleuthing on the UPS shipping calculator. It costs $150 to ship a 20 pound box to Alaska. It’s the same price whether it ships from TN or Seattle. Other than being super expensive, it should be cake since customs wouldn’t be involved. At any rate, you should be able to do plenty of spraying with 10 gallons of Elemonator. I’ve never had any shelf life issues with surfactant in SH. I don’t mix them together until I’m filling up the SH tank.

Yes. Has been one of my main bottlenecks. Pressuretek won’t ship anything. Most places don’t want to ship liquids either.

I’m happy to have you ship items to me and then re-ship them to you. I get halfway decent shipping rates with UPS. PM me your zip code and we’ll see what it runs to ship to you from my location.

128 ounces per gallon X 5 gallons = 640 ounces

640 per bucket and you have 2 = 1280 ounces

If you run 1 - 1 like instructions thats 1280 gallons of sh

IBS had mentioned 8 ounces for 65 gallons im quite sure.

Lets just say you double and run 4-1 you have enough soap for 5120 gallons of SH.

At the ratio IBS posted i got suds and a clean house. I am going to try slightly higher this next round just to do personal testing.

I am also willing to double ship if needed like i offered previously.
