Proportioner problem

Was doing some routine maintenance on proportioner as it was sucking in air at a fitting (used the blue thread seal). Put it back together and now it doesn’t work. None of the lines will pull water/sh/surfactant, and it just creates suction. If I take off the main line at the top and stick it in a five gallon bucket, it will shoot. So something’s going on in the proportioner. I’ve ran compressed air through each check valve and it shoots through the top. I’m stumped. Pentair set up.

dude you been having a bad streak lately, that sucks. This should be easy to troubleshoot.

What is the hose diameter of the plumbing on the suction side?

What’s the pump? How old is it? Do you have a spare you can swap out to rule that out?

What type 12v battery? Is it still good/strong? What’s the voltage reading?

Did you turn on water first to achieve prime in the suction line with the other metering valves off?

Tell me about it man lol. I did a thorough inspection and found the 90 elbow has a crack in it then in going to test it. 1/2 plumbing, pump is a 5.5, bout 8 months old, pump is good since it works bypassing the proportioner. Battery is 12v but its old. I’m guessing its gotta be that crack as it was in the top. Ill know in the morning.

Gotta be the crack making an air leak. I hope everything is smooth sailing for a little while at least for you, amigo.

I appreciate it.Hoping to get a lot more work. It’s been pretty dry, hopefully you’re doing all right.

It’s the time of year that there is a natural slowdown, a lot of companies in my area are switching to other services this time of year. I’ve cranked up window cleaning a good bit, and I always have deck refinishing to fall back on which fortunately spikes in the fall before winter. House Wash and concrete cleaning has drop down, do about 25% lately of what it was this year. Natural.

You can push advertising a little harder and crank the volume back up. There’s always people that need washing. But ROI on advertising is going to be lower. You can also pivot to crank up the volume on commercial, it doesn’t stop as hard as residential. Go after those commercial contracts you’ve had the back of your mind and haven’t pursued. Staying agile is the only way to stay in business.

best to you

I switched to tape and paste. I have found it works better. Keep in mind that teflon tape is not a sealant, it is a lubricant. Someone much smarter than me posted that on this forum. Be careful with some of the pastes, make sure it works with all metal& plastic fittings and allows removal. I’ve found that I get less leaks doing it this way than the old way of teflon tape only or paste only. Just one guys .02 and worth everything you paid for it.

I recently replumbed 80% of my 12v system due to air leaks. First issue I found was the bleach bulkhead was cracked. Biggest issue was a leaking banjo valve. It was used equipment newly purchased and quite apparent removing the banjo valve that the sh had leaked for quite awhile due to the rust under the valve. I went ahead and changed out all the hoses while Iwas at it as well. Proportioner and check valves will be replaced this winter.
