Proportioner maintenance/tear down

I recently purchased a used proportioner for a 12V system that I’m putting together.

Got a pretty great deal on it - 1/2” GF proportioner, Flojet 6 gpm pump, 3/4” braided hoses, battery, noco charger, two 55 gal tanks, larger lock box with everything mounted inside of it for $700.

I would like to disassemble the proportioner and seal everything up myself to prevent any leaks. After searching through the forum, i couldn’t find any info on maintenance other than flushing valves and removing metering valves.

Unfortunately, some of the fittings won’t budge. Is there a way to loosen tru blu, or are these set in stone? A few of the connections look to have pipe dope on them as well.

After taking some of it apart, I noticed one of the check valves needs to be replaced. The gasket looks worn down, and the 4 pins the blue plastic piece rests on are slightly bent. Assuming this isn’t still usable? Luckily, that’s easy enough to replace if not.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a bear of a time chasing leaks with those cheap check valves, someone on here suggested the Hayward check ball valve and it’s been fine ever since. I did have to mount vertically for it to work.

I ditched adjustable wrenches and only use pliers wrenches now… feel like I have more control/tension on the handle… haven’t lost to Loctite, pipe dope, or Teflon tape since. One firm, quick crank, breaks it loose, and then spin off by hand. Just be careful… if you slip, you can take some plastic with you and end up SOL. Good things is those are the cheap parts.

A little perseverance did the trick, along with the pliers wrench. Thanks for the tip, now, to replace the check valve and put it back together.
