Priming new machine with a 1" king nipple?

Anyone have any smart ways to prime a new machine with a 1" king nipple on it with out taking it off the pump? Thanks in advance.

How high up is the machine?

Here’s my opinion on priming the pump. It’s going to pull water immediately so leave the outlet open to check for problems. The 3 seconds the pump is dry it will be fine. If you don’t have water coming out of the outlet at about the count of 5 kill it and check for air leaks.

If you’re dying to prime it, just put your inlet hose in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Leave it in the water after you kill the machine and put your hand over the open end before you attach it to your reel. Loosen your clamp at the inlet and wiggle the hose on the outlet until some water comes out. You’ve successfully burped your pump. Lol.

I prime mine by leaving the switch and gas off and I pull it a few time till water comes out of the outlet. not sure if that helps u out any but that’s how I do it. My way might be wrong but it works great for me.

It will be primed when you turn the key as long as the tank has water and you are plumbed up. It won’t hurt it to spit and sputter for a minute.

Thanks @squidskc and @SPC…I figured it out. I think I’m going to have to buy an engine lift now. These things are awesome.

Okay. I was worries about burning my new pump. I guess I did it the hard way.

Engine lifts are worth their weight in gold.

I have a 1 1/2" barb on mine. Nice hunk of brass it is indeed!

Just leave the pressure hose off (unconnected) when turning the engine over if you want to wet everything (prime)

Makes sense. I was just over thinking it. Last time I did this I just attached the machine to a garden hose before I plumbed it. U you learn something new every day.

I might have to pawn this thing if that’s the case.

You’d always long for it’s helping hand. Lol.

Unless you’re @Innocentbystander and have a forklift… us peasants must have engine lifts and chain falls.

I haven’t moved a barrel of SH the hard way in years!

Get rid of that 90 degree elbow at the pump.

I picked up an engine lift last week to get my new Power Pro 8GPM unit out of my truck. The delivery truck used their lift and dropped it in my truck bed. I see many uses for it now that I have some heavy equipment.

The way the trailers set up it has to be there for now. I’ve got a bigger trailer coming in next month. Maybe I’ll get rid of it then but I really don’t think it’s an issue.

Ya no forklift. Not even a shop to put it in.
