We washed this customers house driveway and curbing. He was very pleased with the job we did and we priced it fair
Turns out he is over the whole maintenance at our local hospital
They called me one day and wanted me to come out and fill out papers to put us in there system
The guy said his boss wanted us to do work out there. So we filled out papers
They called me now and want me to quote them a price to clean
Two large white propane tanks and two water tanks. These are kind of large tanks. Also the concrete pads that they sit on. Said they need quote for purchase order to pay me
There will be more work as we go. Sidewalks office buildings concrete and more
I would like to be fair on pricing so they keep using us but will need to make money as well
How should I approach this. I know hospitals have more money to spend than a home owner. But the guy in charge probably has a budget
Any help on pricing. I know you don’t have enough info to give numbers more wondering should I be conservative somewhat
Thanks
how much do you need / want to make per hour? how long do you think it will take you to do the job?
We normally try to stay around 75 hr or better sometimes we fall below but not often
Even though you would think hospitals would have a larger budget,it’s often time they don’t. Your maintenance guys in charge of that have a whole panel of tight wads padding their own pockets that have to approve it or they are only budgeted a yearly price to take care of everything mowing, pwing, windows, sealing and striping. At least the cities around here operate that way. If you get in don’t beat yourself to lose money but keep it so you can keep the account going for years. Cheaper monthly pay is alot better than one descent payout IMO

has anyone ever washed storage tanks they are large look like large propane tanks that people have in there yard but a lot bigger
two have diesel and two are water probally 10 ft high by 30 ft long and round white
I figure tanks should take a hour or so each anyone have experience with these
Those tanks clean up great! You will have no problem with them. House wash and some light pressure will knock them out fast. 20 minutes for one that size. Watch the gauges. We have never covered anything and been fine.
Do you think $85.00 per tank is a fair price
Budget an hour for each. If you are good with that per hour…remember that you are the one with the equipment and knowledge to get it done. A maintenance man for the hospital would probably waste a good half day at least on 1 tank with just a pressure washer.
It may be hard to raise your rates if you use price as your selling point. Charge what you are comfortable with and sell yourself.
I think that $85.00 per tank is an insult.
I would be at $395.00
Try something between $85 and $395.
I agree with Tim on this although we would be somewhere in the $200 + range…Remember you’ll be waiting on your money for at least 30 days…you’re gonna wait 30 days for $85 ??? I know we won’t, you go broke doing that…Just Saying.
I know you want they’re business…But don’t cut your throat getting their business.
My Dad always told me “You can always go down on price, but you’ll never be able to go up…again”
395.00 per tank
The thing is they have a maintaine crew and they have hot water pressure washers
The guy over it all just liked us and is just trying to give us some work so I want to be fair. They don’t really need me to do it
He told me also submit invoice by Tuesday mornings checks will be ready by Thursday
I am thinking 85 each will be 340.00. But another 120 to clean the pads they sit on 460 total
I just don’t see them paying me 1580 when they have guys on payroll that could do it
I hope I am not making a mistake. I guess we will see
Thanks guys
Also keep in mind, the hospitals are tax exempt but they do report all jobs they pay out. So if $85/tank is what you want to charge then when you report his as income, your going to pay roughly 30% taxes on it after you take out your cost to do that tank. Reason why you need to raise your price here big time or you’ll be working for just about nothing.
Seventy two percent of my clients have a pressure washer. Seventy two percent.
It is not possible for your customers to place more value on your services than you do.
I sold a $5,000.00 log house wash yesterday. The man owns a construction company. He builds and maintains log homes. It is easier for him to write a check to me for $5,000.00 than it is to pull one of his crews off of a paying job for a week. (I have three days estimated, his guys need a week).
$85.00 per tank would be the profit I want the company to make after all expenses.
Listen to Guy B on this job. He is speaking the relevant truth.
Ok. Got that. Thanks
