Pricing for cleaning concrete at gas station

I just got a call from a large gas station with multiple locations. They are wanting our pricing for only cleaning the concrete.

What is a ball park range on this???

I wonder if you use oxalic to give it that extra bright clean look

John, unless you’ve cleaned gas stations before (I’m guessing you haven’t) you should know there are several variables to consider…#1…Do you have hot water? This is (Imo) the biggest time saver and only efficient way to clean oily, gum infested gas stations…#2…This work will have to be done at night, after closing, usually 12am-6am…#3…The Charlotte area is “Tight” on environmental regulations…where’s your wash water going?..Not in a storm drain for sure.

Time is your ballpark… Equipment & Experience is your ballpark…Your ballpark & others ballpark…are 2 different ballparks.

Just Saying…

I understand the variables I was just wanting a range on pricing to be competitive. I’m not interested in being the cheapest guy but just within range on pricing.

No disrespect John, but I don’t think you do. You forgetting the biggest variable…Profit.

Your pricing can be competitive, but if you’re not efficient in your equipment or methods…you’ll still price yourself in a hole.

The going rate for gas stations is the lowest price they get, and more than likely they’ll require you to reclaim in some fashion. There is no “Round About” figure, although I’ve heard .05 - .10 per sq. ft. …to that I say no thanks.

I’m confident in our equipment…8 GPM and we have Hot Water. Done a lot of residential concrete but little experience with commercial pricing.

I was thinking .10 to .15 per sq.

Hey John-- if your thinking .1 -.15 per square then go in the middle. Only you know what numbers you need to be “profitable” and that doesn’t have to be the going rates. This is where your sales ability may come into play.

On most commercial jobs the potential customer tends to go with bottom priced bids and if you can educate them enough as to why they should pick your company then you stand a chance to get close to the numbers you need and the low baller gets passed over.

Best of luck.

You are on the right price range at 15 cents. I do fuel stations here for one large company. If it’s just the concrete you don’t have to cover the pumps. But let me know if you find a great degreaser for around the diesel pumps. I’ve tried them all…

Did you try EBC? I heard it works pretty good for Gas station cleaning. We never cleaned gas stations because I have no interest there so I can’t really advise on what would work best there.

EBC is working very well for us on gas station pads. In Cali we recover water (filter and pump out) on most jobs and do this on ALL gas station jobs. The trick with EBC is to let the pre-spraying on the bad areas dwell for quite some time, along with agitation. Personally I try to stay away from gas stations but we have landed a few in the last couple of months at our price.

Where do you get EBC from

John,
I’ve tried EBC several times and haven’t had much luck. It’s pretty expensive compared to other degreasers that worked the same.

I’m sure you can ask directly where there closest dealer, I’m not sure.

Like I said, the trick with EBC is dwell. You can also boost it with Sodium Hydroxide if topical stains are really bad.
