Pressure Washing Pavers with big gaps

Hi guys,

I’m from Germany, but over here, there are no such forums. I recently came across a potential job, but one thing irritated me. The parking lots are all paved, but not as you would think, but with gaps in between the bricks that are like 3 centimetres wide. These gaps are filled with stone chippings. Using a surface cleaner, I fear, would wash all the filling material out. This could lead to destabilization of the whole paving. How would you do it? I don’t feel like hauling tonnes worth of stone chippings in after having finished.

Louis

Please use my foot as a scale. These gaps are BIG!

I don’t do a lot of pavers or flat work, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

If you don’t want to re sand or replace the stone work between the pavers. Soft wash it with a hot mix. Hopefully the SH will lighten the pavers enough to make it look a lot better.

Might take a couple of passes, and some lower pressure rinsing in between. There should be improvement.

Maybe get a quote from a landscape guy for re sanding the pavers and give the client 2 options: Low pressure SH wash (lower price), or high pressure wash with re sanding (higher price including sub contracting to the landscaper)

Thanks a lot, soft washing might be best youre right.

What do you have to pay for SH over there?

Softwash is definitely the way to go. About a 4% mix, leave for 10 min and rinse or you can just leave it on there and let do it for you.

Im just figuring out if I’m allowed to use SH. Germany, the country of laws and rules… Pretty high chance that using SH is forbidden. Until now, I only pressure washed without chemicals. SH as a pool mix with 13% is around 1,30 Euros the litre.

What can i use as a detergent? In germany, there are no pressure washing stores etc. Things like Elemonator aren’t available. Just normal Dish soap or laundry detergent? That will be a foamy chaos. :joy:

Usually some type of laundry detergent because most are formulated to not have a lot of suds.

Right now, there’s a a lot of guys thinking about moving to Germany to start a pressure washing and supply business. Lol

Sounds like you have the market cornered!
