Pressure washer pump was leaking today not sure what this piece is?

Noob question here but on the bottom of my pump there was a small fitting that had a spring in it. It not sure if it’s part of the unloaded or not. It’s not the thermal relief valve. It was loose so I tightened it and it stopped but what is it?

That’s AAA’s “Pressure Boost Valve Kit”.

Look under your pump and locate the white identification tag. Snap a photo of it, jot it down, whatever, just know where it is.

Go to www.allpartsinc.com and type in that number from the tag found under your pump. It’ll pull up the exact pump you have. You can click on it and then find exploded parts diagrams with part numbers and pricing. I’ve ordered several parts directly from their site and they’ve been great to do business with.

I got me a chuckle out of that one.

Thanks, what exactly is that for? Was it supposed to be loose or did it just loosen over time. Did it start pissing waster like that because of something I did ?

Reminds me of my old 3.5 gpm unit. No need for a diagram here. Pump’s already exploded

I remember seeing that photo. Right around the 4th of July, oddly enough. Looks like somebody hit it with a car.

Wasn’t a car. My room temp IQ hit it by letting it overheat. Now I’ve got a belt drive and a buffer tank so I dont make that mistake again

I think it is AAA’s way of getting just a bit more pressure out of their pump for a marketing advantage. If you look at the same engine with a CAT pump on it it’ll claim to only go up to 3,800 psi, where as the AAA states 4,000psi. Couldn’t tell you if it really works or not. I don’t own a pressure gauge and have only used one on my air compressor.

I first typed “IPL” but then my mind caught up with me and I had to remind myself that I don’t work a parts counter any longer and not everyone knows that abbreviation.
