Pressure washer flow "sputter"

Hmmmm . I noticed mine was dripping a little the other day. Changed it out without any thought.Go figure, I have like 10 new thermal relief valves and no plugs ,I’ll plug it this morning when the farm services opens. I’ll also make both returns hit sides instead of whipping around in the buffer tank. Thanks a bunch @BigJake

Duh, I just found some plugs off one of my spare unloader cemetery pile. Lol. Im so dumb before coffee. Err.

You reading all this great info and help @DWG ?

You betcha! I’ve checked some of the things mentioned and everything looked good. I did notice a little water below the unloader.

If you drill a hole in the top of your tank slightly smaller than your bypass line, you can shove the bypass line in it, and it’ll hold it pretty tight in there. If that doesn’t work, 2 small slits with a knife and a zip-tie do wonders lol! I’m the same with caffeine. I’m a caffeine addict. It’s bad.

Drill a hole for the return line and 2 small holes next to that for you zip tie lasso. Or just get a fitting.

Bulkheads don’t cost a lot

@Hotshot Shoving 100’ of 8” currogated poly drainage pipe into your tote it will eliminate bubbles and sloshing.

I know guys who have pipe in the tanks most say it really helps with surge

I’m up for anything. I’m still surging after today’s fixes, took off thermal relief valve and plugged it .then had return lines shoot to sides of buffer, checked belt for proper tension, unhooked from DS and reel, hooked directly to burner via 100 ’ 3/8 hose with no gun . I’m gonna hook it directly to spigot tomorrow, if that doesn’t work ,I’m thinking I’m loosing my pump slowly. I checked psi today,I’m down to 2600 psi. I was @3000. But when I’m on the gun ,it just feels like not enough water, like someone is doing laundry or taking a shower kinda thing… She’s just jelous of the new big girl I put behind her and she’s upset. Lol

Hmm…interesting. Could be a check valve but I would expect it to act up right from the start

If it goes back to normal after hooking to spigot, then I got a plumbing problem.then my next step after spigot is to hook it back to buffer tank via 5/8 garden hose down the filler neck

It does act up from the start @DisplacedTexan , where is that check valve ?

In the pump manifold. They are behind those big brass hex plugs. I think they’re 22mm but I can’t remember exactly. You take those plugs out and you’ll see all of your check valves there. You should be able to push on each check valve with a small screwdriver (cover the screwdriver with tape so you don’t mar anything) to make sure they are working. Be very careful taking the plugs out because brass is very soft. Check all of the o-rings on those plugs too and make sure they’re not cut or damaged.

If all your check valves are good then you could very well have a damaged seal or pump cavitation. I’d try hooking directly to the spigot first just to eliminate that and go from there. If you don’t have any air leaks on the suction side and you’ve already eliminated everything after the pump by bypassing the reel and whatnot then your problem is likely with the pump. If it’s cavitated then the seals will never form a good seal and it will just slowly get worse until it doesn’t work at all. You should be able to get a new manifold and just slap it on in that case. If no cavitation but a damaged seal then obviously just rebuild the manifold. Takes about 10 minutes when you know what you’re doing.

I didn’t know you were a pump guru… You go @DisplacedTexan !! and if all else fails, I’ll do that. Thanks brother

LOL when you’re out on location in the middle of nowhere and you have a pump go down and a company man breathing down your neck you get pretty good. I used to be able to swap entire pumps quicker than it took me to write this message.

You definitely have a water feed problem I would bet you that the new machine is pulling harder and creating a vacuum. If you only run the 4 machine alone do you have the same problem?

Thats why i bought that over priced plumbing kit we had that huge argument about :joy::joy:. I will agree its overpriced but the luxury of having everything you need sent to you and not wondering around home depot to find a piece for 2 hours with employees running from you then when they page someone 10 times to help you they tell you they dont sell that piece of plumbing makes it worth it. Can you tell i hate lowes and home depot.
