Pressure Pro 3000psi 5gpm vs. 2500psi 5.5gpm

Hello all-
Long time reader, first time poster. I do only residential with 4gpm currently, and have many times seen written on here that the 5.5 2500 is perfect for residential. I’ve seen concerns about the 2500 handling concrete, but those who own one say it’s fine, especially with pre and post treatment, which I currently do. Today I saw a 3000 psi 5 gpm on PWP page. I’ve never seen this before and am wondering if anyone has heard good or bad. The extra 500 psi would be nice, especially since I run 200 ft of hose. The pump is not an Udor, it’s an AR. The 3k 5Gpm is about 300-400 cheaper than the 2500 5.5gpm. Any thoughts?

The AR pump will need replacing almost immediately. Much more reputable vendors out there

I appreciate it. I hadn’t seen it before or anywhere else. I’ll stick with Bob at PT. Thanks Off Duty

Power wash store water dragon cold water polychain models have udor pump and reasonably priced

I’ve got 220 hours on an AR pump… 5.5 @3500k and I don’t think it’s quiting any time soon. Worst case sscenario you’ll need a new pump in a fee hundred hours. By then you should have made 10’s of thousands and it shouldn’t be an issue. Just my .2 cents

The jump from 4gpm to 5.5 wont really yield the results you are hoping for. I would save and go straight to 8gpm.

Dont get me wrong, it will still work really well and get the job done. It just wont be a big step up in productivity. The 8gpm on the other hand, will work circles around what you are doing now.

I just looked there after your suggestion, thanks

Clean1, thanks for your .02, FatJoe I agree 100% on the 8gpm, I’m trying to stick with a 55 gallon buffer on my trailer, hence the 5.5 gpm, an 8gpm would require a new trailer for the bigger buffer tank.

l can hear IBS saying to save and get the 8 AND a trailer, which of course is good advice

X2 on the AR pump. @Clean1 has likely been super lucky with his AR.

AR pumps are like setting money on fire. 220 hours is about one month of service for me. During peak season they’re running 8-10 hours a day 6 days a week.

If you’re doing that over a few months might be work the gamble if you buy a back up to carry with you when it goes bad.

Ok sounds good, yeah my hours aren’t quite that high yet per month but I’m not going to gamble with it

Talk to Shawn at the Nashville store. He’s a good guy and shoots it straight. I was going to deal with him but found out there’s a branch here in Mississippi about 3 hours from me. His name is steve and if he’s going to warranty my equipment it’s only fair that I buy from him

I went the more inexpensive route and put a 5.5 gear drive on my gx390 and love it. I originally had a 4gpm GP pump. I personally saw quite a difference in production…especially rinsing when going to a 5.5…which actually puts out 6.6gpm. 2500 psi is all you need to clean concrete. When paired to a 16 inch Ultra or even a 19 inch Classic it cleans residential driveways pretty quickly. Yes you’ll have to pretreat if it’s dirty.

You can always get an 8gpm down the line when you’re filling up your schedule and use the 5.5 as your backup.

I remember feeling like 5.5 gpm was a world away from 4 gpm. If you think about it it’s 20% more water leaving the darn thing and that adds up. I wouldn’t buy a 4 gpm now for any reason whatsoever.

Thanks to everyone! Good advice as expected

I currently use 4000 psi/4gpm. I would like to upgrade to 5.5gpm to increase productivity. I do almost all residential jobs. Besides buffer tank size (i currently have 55 gallon), what do i need to think about?

Also i use an x-jet and would like to try downstreaming although a few people told me i can’t downstream using long lenghts (200’) of hose which i need as is my area many homes are far from where i can park. Will using more gpm help drawing the chemicals through more hose?

Thanks

so, what have you discovered on your own by buying a $20 ds injector and experimenting with different lengths of hose?

Skip it, go straight to 8/3500. Been there, done that. Some guys like the 5.5 as it draws more SH but rinsing and sheer cleaning ability on concrete with 8gpm is shocking. I also have no problems hitting 3.5 story peaks with mine, never could do that with my 5.5. Slightest breeze and the stream just goes sideways.

I haven’t touched my xjet in over a year, and if I need more than housewash strength I reach for the portable 12v.

Dcbrock, Which size buffer tank did you find works best with the 8gpm?
