Predator 79cc 35gpm clearwater 1inch pump for soft wash setup possible?

Researching on YouTube college I found a guy who says he is using a harbor freight 79cc predator 1inch pump for his soft wash setup.

https://www.harborfreight.com/1-in-79cc-gasoline-engine-clear-water-pump-35-gpm-63404.html

He says he’s running this connected to a 65 gallon tank and then 200ft of hose attached to a gilmore gun.

My question is…is this actually possible or he full of it?
I guess you could throttle it down as you don’t really need anywhere near the 35gpm it says it gets at what I’d assume is full throttle. He says the flow is like a garden hose with decent pressure.

His comments are on this link.

Look for user name Brian Overfield.

This setup intrigues me as it seems relatively compact and you aren’t really working the motor at all with this setup. HF actually is willing to ship this to me as well which is a huge issue I’ve been running into and I can source 15,25,35, and 55 gallon tanks/drums locally and could just batch mix for my applications.

Just buy a 12v. Northern Tool 5.5 gpm.
Be careful who you watch on yt. Some are much better doing yt videos than they are washing. ‘King of Pressure Washing’. give me a break, lol

I doubt that pump will hold up to bleach.

How would you plumb this? Pumps like that are meant to have no restriction at all on the output side. I don’t see how you can run a couple hundred feet of 1/2" hose and dead head it into a spray gun. Even if you did a pressure relief valve and bypass, I don’t think the pump will handle the pressure on the outlet side.

I’d concur on the “similar to a good pressure spigot”, we use that pump on our aux water trailer to feed water into the onboard tank as extra supply when there’s no water/lousy well/etc. We run it via garden hose right into our check valve/float valve assembly on the truck tank, and it works great for that purpose. I think it does sometimes overpower the float valve shutoff though…

I would most definitely NOT let SH run through it, if that is what you’re intending.

I 100% agree. At this point im skipping almost every videos first like 3 minutes as they peddle something or the other. I was specifically looking at how different people have set up their trucks for washing
and I like to go through the comments to see what other say in response as you can have some pretty good information there.

I have sourced (dont laugh) a 50 gallon plastic drum that smells like jalepenos or something spicy was stored in there for a mixing tank for (50$). Its that or 150$ for a 30 gallon water tank for batch mixing and a 12v setup.

So far 12v seems to be the way to go. Havent pulled the trigger on anything yet, just researching and exploring potential options. With the forum being down yesterday at least for me i definitely spent more time on YT checking setups out.

Check out any local car wash places - they may have large drums that smell better!
