Hi there! I have a Predator 670 hooked up to an AR 8 gpm pump through a gear box. I have recently replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, and changed the oil in my predator engine. The engine will usually start, but only after a few minutes of turning the key. Does anybody have an idea what the problem might be? The only thing I can think of is that the gas tank could be the problem. We have about 2 ft of gas hose in between the intake and the tank.
Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated!
Loosen the gas cap and see if that fixes it.
Were you having these issues BEFORE you did all that engine maintenance or AFTER?
Is your fuel tank mounted higher than the motor?
We were having the issues before the maintenance
No, it is mounted next to the motor
you may have an air leak in your fuel lines. It takes awhile to prime. if you use starter fluid or pour tiny bits of gas into carb andnit starts like at 3rd try, likely a air leak. Also, you should be making sure to hold the pressure line open. And if your water source such as a allvalve kn tank is closed, it will be hard to start.
I’m don’t own a Predator engine, but I’d consider items such as:
-low oil sensor being faulty
-improper (low) oil
-fuel restriction (filter wrong direction, wrong micron level, vented gas cap no longer venting, fuel line collapsing, pin hole in fuel line somewhere allowing air to draw in)
-valve adjustment
-faulty ignition coil(s) &/or spark plugs
-bad fuel (a water droplet can get into the carburetor and wreak havoc on starting/running for a small engine)
