I know quite a few use the Gilmour, and other have built their own out of PVC and fittings. I came across this hose end gun sprayer this past weekend and thought I’d offer it up here for you guys to look at. It appears to be solidly built - there’s a pic on their homepage showing that the walls of the gun are 1/8" thick. Also says it’ll do 7.5 GPM with no tip attached at 80 PSI.
The possible issue is that while the inlet to the gun is typical 3/4" FGT, the outlet isn’t. It’s 3/4-16 UNF-2B. I can’t decipher that completely, but I know part of it it means “fine threads.” With that in mind, I don’t know if a fitting exists to convert it so a QC can be added. The gun itself looks beefy and compact though. I’ll let those of you who know more about this stuff than I do (i.e. everyone) decide if it would possibly work.
I’ve used one like this to post treat concrete at times. It has npt threads at the end so you can add any attachment you want. I usually just throw a jrod on the end for the fan spray. I use a ball valve most of the time. I also have some plastic quick connects on the end of my 12v hose so I can easily swap out whichever gun I feel like using.
I already have the pvc GHT to pipe thread adapters. I figure I’ll just buy the nozzles by the dozen, and have a pvc ball valve behind the gun for if/when it starts leaking.
I have a pack of the pvc garden hose gaskets to replace the natural rubber ones.
