Pool deck, tinted concrete

Just checking with the pro’s…

They want it done in the spring (as usual). I verified it’s through color and not painted, just a normal surface clean and post treat?

If it is tinted concrete, then my understanding is that the tint is added when mixing. If so, you ain’t gonna wash that away. Regular procedure as you suggested.

Be careful. Do a test spot and wait for it to dry! Be really careful with surface cleaners. We did one that was supposed to be an integral mix but learned from the construction companies that sometimes the top will have more color and it can come out. Usually happens after UV damages the surface over years with no sealer to protect it. Also use oversized tips and even 25 or 40 deg to not hit too hard on the surface.

If there’s anything I’ve learned in 13 years of paint and coatings sales, it’s that home owners generally have no idea what they have on any surface. Every now and then you’ll get a guy who’s squared away and is up on everything but they are a rare breed.

True, the customer is rarely right. So much of the information they have is right off diy sites on the internet or horror stories from friends.

I had a woman swear up and down that her front door that she’d used for the last decade was painted not stained and polyurethane. We walk her through the product and steps used to repaint it. She comes back a week later and her door is orange from stain bleed… I stop by on my way home and sure enough she painted onto a stained door with none of the correct prep… happens all the time.
