Pool Deck Coating

Does anyone know what type of coating this is that is put down on top of concrete around swimming pools? I’ve seen it quite a bit around my area but am not sure what it’s called.

Cool deck, you can soft wash it. Don’t want to put a SC on it.

I put 3-4% let sit for a bit and ball valve rinse. The ones I’ve done cleaned up nice and quick….

Kool Deck… another vote for good pretreatment and medium pressure rinse

Is it able to be painted/stained?

I believe that is strongly not recommended. I looked into that years ago when I cleaned my first pool deck and the customer had some chips and damage on it. I did a little Google foo and, if I remember correctly, it said that’s no bueno. I’m certain people have done it because I’ve seen painted pool decks before but I personally don’t want that kind of liability.

All the ones I see around here seem to all be in that light cream color.
I’ve never seen it peal or fade so I’m assuming it’s pretty tough stuff.

It appears to be pretty tough. I’ve got one coming up in a week or so that I do every year and it’s in horrible shape but it always turns out halfway decent looking for how bad it is.

Same here. The lighter colors don’t attract as much heat which is important for when you are walking barefoot around going towards or out of the pool.

White objects look white because they reflect back all the visible wavelengths of light that shine on them. Colored objects, on the other hand, reflect back only some of the wavelengths; the rest they absorb…darker objects heat up faster in the sun than white ones do - because they absorb many of the different wavelengths of light energy, while white objects reflect most of the wavelengths.
