Painters tape for damp conditions?

Hi guys, has anyone found a painters tape that works well in damp/semi-damp conditions?

I usually use the green Frog tape for taping outlets keyholes, etc. but find that it will not stick if it’s rainy at all. Wiping surfaces with a towel first doesn’t seem to help.

Most tapes don’t work in moist conditions. however, if your state didn’t outlaw those grocery store plastic bags you can stick one over it and wrap around that with frog tape (for those exterior boxes mounted on the surface). Even some duct tapes start slipping in moisture, I’ve had to repaint things because tape slipped when stripping. If they outlawed plastic bags, wally world version of ziplocks might work or cling wrap if you are determined.

This is what I’ve used for years…..seems to do well.

Plastic shower caps work as well.

Yes - I bought a bunch of those on Amazon.

Shower caps are fine but you still have to tape them as the SH gets behind the outlet and shorts it out.

I’m considering Flex Tape at this point, it works when wet

These are the three main ones I see around here. The first and third work fine with just a shower cap since they have a “lip” to hold it in place. For the middle one, I use the orange FrogTape (the heavy-duty kind for non-painted surfaces). I open the flaps, place a strip across, then close them and cover it starting at the bottom and working my way up. I missed one of those last year because it blended in perfectly with the brick and ended up popping a fuse, but otherwise I haven’t had any issues.

These are the ones that seem the most problematic for me. A couple years ago I burnt out two of them at a condo complex. It was a rainy day and I couldn’t get the tape to stick so I just chanced it. Doing the same complex starting next week, and don’t want a repeat of that situation

I picked up a roll of this the other day . I found the frog tape sticks better to most surfaces, tbh

I Wonder how well it peels off :joy:

Probably take a nice layer of paint with it:expressionless_face:

I’ve fried two of these so far, one kept smoking and scorched the interior wall. The customer actually thanked me in a way, the electrician said it was installed improperly.
