Ok guys its my first time doing a painted stucco house! Looked up previous posts but did not really get the answer I was looking for, I have a 12V system, but the previous company that did work for my customer either used to hot of a mix or used high pressure or something. The house is a dark beige and in one spot where the previous company did the work it turned white . Now my brain is telling me to start at a 2% mix and go up from there. I dont have a pic of the damaged area but i will attach a couple of photos so you can see what Im dealing with. Tell me if i’m on the right path or not please…
The flagstone will definitely require a hot mix. That stucco doesn’t look all that bad. Do a test spot on an inconspicuous area and slowly work your way up. Keep in mind that in the winter you typically have to go with a longer dwell and possibly a bit more surfactant than you would in the summer. Don’t go too heavy on surfactant or you’ll be rinsing way too long.
Oh and stay the heck away from that door. I’d tape it off completely with some good plastic sheeting.
I wonder how that company messed up making the paint almost white in one spot and yes I will cover up the door. Thank you for that !!
Post a picture of it and I’ll betcha we can figure it out.
Im just texted the customer I thought I took one of it but I guess not
Oh wow. You can get that staining out but I have no clue how they’re going to get the color back and it not stand out like crazy. Let’s see what @florida_condo_cleani thinks. He does a lot of stucco I think. To me it looks like they probably blasted it with a high pressure nozzle on a pole or really long wand.
they used a hot mix around the stones and the rain line off the roof , that’s what changed it to a lighter color ?
I don’t think so but maybe. If they had used chems you would probably see some lines where it ran down the stone and the foundation. I don’t see any of that. That picture just screams high pressure at a close distance.
Yeah I can see that , but when’s the last time its been washed? That growth on stones comes back pretty regularly doesn’t it ?
Especially were the water runs down it.
My guess is it’s white from the water running down it constantly. Not the other company.
That’s a good conclusion as well.
White could also be eflo, or mineral build up. Cant tell from pic
Yeah, it will continue to come back until they divert the runoff. @EDM95 I thought of that too but that would mean the other company didn’t do anything because the rest of the house is still dirty. @Greenman brings up a good point. It could be efflorescence I suppose but I would expect there to be other signs of it nearby. That seems concentrated like a tip pattern.
I think they tried to remove that stain using high pressure without chem by the way it looks lighter just around the stain. If it was chem the whole area would be affected
Exactamundo bromanchino. Also, it would have to be a pretty hot mix to discolor it like that and that hot of a mix is definitely going to have some effect on the stain. I don’t see anywhere that the chemical actually cleaned so I doubt it was ever present.
Thats what I thought ! the customer said when they cleaned the house. that was the only spot that lost color. I was just afraid of using to hot of a mix… should I start with 2% ?
Also this was 2 years ago when they had it cleaned
Set the expectation with the customer that you aren’t able to bring the color back. Are you sure it’s painted stucco? Do a small test spot if you ever feel the need to. 2% should be good for the green but I think you’ll need to go hotter for that black stain.
