Orange Stains on Siding

@DisplacedTexan what does “oh boy” mean? If it’s about the rim cleaner I understand, but if it’s about resurrecting old threads, isn’t that encouraged as that’s part of reading and searching instead of getting told to “search” like a lot of new guys on here?

Resurrecting an old thread to give some odd ball advice…

Resurrecting old threads is perfectly fine in my book. The rim cleaner on someone’s house is probably not good advice for the newbies that are almost guaranteed to find this thread in the future.

Just out of curiosity, @crydaga, do you own a car wash?

@DisplacedTexan :+1: definetly don’t suggest rim cleaner on a house lol, makes it look like you’ve just grabbed Something off the shelf whatever you thought was going to work. I do enjoy reading older threads it gives you a measure of how far things have come in the industry and where they are now. I can almost guarantee you the proportioner, ds injectors, xjet’s, 12volt pumps were all laughed at at some point in the pressure washing industry :joy:

It’s best to refrain from giving poor advice on a forum that is filled with great advice. Please keep that in mind when posting in the future

You’re not wrong. Everything had to start somewhere but fortunately we have figured out a lot about how to deal with different stains and we don’t have to resort to shade tree chemistry to tackle most jobs.

Yes sorry

@DisplacedTexan well said!

No need to apologise. Stick around, this place is a gold mine of great information and good people.

You’ll being kind of hard on him. Rim cleaner is mainly hydrofluoric acid. Use hydrofluoric nearly every day to remove orange stains. F9 may be cheaper though than buying a bunch of bottles of rim cleaner.

The last wheel cleaner I used had Oxalic acid. Seems like it would be too harsh but it worked like a charm. Regardless, I still wouldn’t advise anyone to spray wheel cleaner on a house. Next thing you know we’ll have some guy on here telling us that we should clay bar vinyl to remove impurities embedded in the surface.

@DisplacedTexan you don’t clay bar homes? :joy::+1:

Not yet but I’m just waiting for the next Winter Wizard to drop in and convince me that I should be.

You should

Do you know where I can buy a good post wash wax? I’d prefer something that smells like a new car.

You have to sneak into car dealerships at night with a torch. Warm up the paint and catch the wax drippings, then simply add to bleach.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Pretty imaginative.

@Dirtyboy he has mythical powers that no one else has, @Innocentbystander could post a photo of a cup of water and the forum would have to be shut down due to traffic overload.

@Racer has my login info and is responsible for anything intelligent, witty or insightful. I just do the grumpy stuff.
