Old robins pressure washer

Came across this belt drive robins 3500 psi with cat pump guy says it run and everything works great is it worth buying for 250$ that’s what he will take for it says he don’t know the gallons per minute I’m assuming at least 4gpm

Like a lot of people I just do a Google search and it’s essentially a Subaru engine. It also said parts are still being made in TN if something breaks.

Personally I’d skip it and find a Honda but whatever you can afford.

Yeah I just want something to start with to see if I can get going I’ve done tons of searching on here most not logged in so my read hours probably don’t show it but I feel ready to start but not looking to break the bank off the get go

The forum standard is “buy once…cry once”. If cash is an issue, look for a unit someone is selling that is getting out of the business. Happens all the time.

Costs $300 to rent a unit from HD for a week… line up jobs and go rent a machine. Use the profits from the week to get your own machine.

Dave Ramsey wouldn’t approve of this suggestion, but credit card. Pressure washing pays well enough that you should be able to line up enough jobs in a month to pay for a decent unit.

Mildly curious, it says your last post on here was 5 years ago, you are just now wanting to start up?

I wanted too start around when COVID was a thing then my original job didn’t allow me to have time for it but I’ve always still looked into it and researched ,I now don’t travel and I am at a point where it is doable again

Might have someone giving me a whole set up fingers crossed

Well, either lucky or unlucky you. If someone is giving you a setup, it might be junk or starter stuff. A decent unit and equipment is 1000s of dollars. If you get a decent setup then you are getting a big gift.

The upside of getting worn equipment is you learn the ins and outs of it by fixing it. A ready to go unit looks nice and is great until something breaks…and something will eventually break. Ready to go backups is my advice, and I received that advice right here on this forum when I started and it has paid dividends. Always have those viton o rings on your rig, tape, paste, tools, and a vise. I probably keep too much on my trailer, but I live in the boondocks so there is no quick trip back home or to a store.

Good luck to you.

Yeah it’s a 4gpm belt drive Honda gx340 that’s been sitting for 4 years been cleaning the pump valves changing oils in pump and engine tuning everything up and hopefully try to fire it all up soon .. got a new unloader and going to re do everything only thing worth keeping will probably just be the pressure washer it’s self and the reels . Gonna need new hoses and everything though. And yes I’m going to get extras just in case

“That is a solid plan. A Honda GX340 with belt drive is a great starting point-- and cleaning the pump and changing oils shows you are doing it right, If you are getting the setup for free, that is even better, New hoses and reels will make it reliable. Good luck with the fire-up1”
