Nice knife shop in TN

If you like anything from EDC to a buck knife, hatchets, machete, or a sword they got it. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable service staff, and a lot of neat things to see.

Smokey mountain knife works, outside of Knoxville TN over by pigeon forge.

On a side note there is also a Lodge cast iron store next door with factory seconds.

I know a lot of people carry knives for work or hunting/fishing. I got a replacement spyderco while I was there, broke the tip of mine off awhile ago and haven’t found a cheaper knife I liked as much. Prices were ok. My knife was cheaper there than I could find online.

Just thought I’d put it out there if you happen to be in the area. A little disappointed with the BBQ I got out in the middle of nowhere at a highly rated bbq shack. They pulled the brisket, was like pulled pork. Didn’t like that at all, sauce was ok. I want to see that smoke ring and I want to bite into the brisket. Overall, for being a tourist town, the people were friendly and helpful, but it was the off season.

Didn’t hurt that it was low 70’s there for 3 days, meanwhile light snow at my place.

One trip and I could see why. That place was huge.

I’ve been past that store several times and never had the chance to browse. We’ve always been on our way back to Louisville and the 6 hour drive is a long one for us.

Next trip, make it part of the trip, not a side excursion. There is a lot of stuff to see in that store other than just purchasing knives. I drove 11.5 hours when I went down there. supposed to be about a 8.7 hr drive, but a stop at buccees (never saw one before), traffic, then a detour to the airport in Knoxville to pick up someone and well, 11.5. Wasn’t fun as I was still sick from a cold.

Maybe take an extra day and do some stuff in the area. I didn’t care for dollywood, thought it would be more interactive, but it is just an amusement park. Most of the stuff on the strip by dollywood is just crappy tourist traps. I went to bush bean factory, it was interesting. Didn’t make it there on my last southern excursion due to weather. There are other things to do there as well, just not everyone’s cup of tea. I like seeing things, like how they are made and how things are crafted.

Just left that area this morning after a quick two day stay. Saw the knife place on the way in to town and again on our way back out, but didn’t stop by. Had the kiddos with us and we had promised them that our next and final stop was Buccees on our way out today. We’ll be back in that area in February and again in the summer so I’ll try to put it on my to-do list.

I have been drooling over the catalogs for decades and finally made it there several months ago. I had the family with me and they got bored after a while. I spent about 3 hours in the store and didn’t see everything. Glad I went.

Just look at you bunch of weirdos lurking around my neck of the woods. Don’t feed the bears!

dam, wish I would have known, I would have asked for a BBQ recommendation. Google lied, or people in that area think a pulled brisket is good. I don’t even like the thin sliced brisket that they put on sammiches, I like the thicker cut. good sauce and I’m a happy man.

It’s a tourist trap & quality BBQ takes time. There’s a place in Oak Ridge, TN called Off Road Diner and Dogs where you’ll find the gourmet brisket on Saturdays but the best cooking always happens at home. The Boston butt I cooked last week surpasses anything I’ve ever ordered anywhere. It was a 30 hour cook. Starting another one Friday at lunchtime. Eating at 5pm on Saturday. Bring beer!

It was preachers smokehouse, even the locals said it was good (I asked around). It even had that out of the way BBQ shack look and it was in the middle of nowhere. I saw another place on my way out to bush beans and it looked like it might be good, but who knows.
