Newbe Help! What Schools do you recommend?

Click on the magnify glass on the upper right of the screen and type “downstreaming”. You’ll find out what it means in less than 5 minutes. Then do the same for other words you don’t know the meaning of. We can also give you a list of terms to search. You’ll end up reading about stuff you had no idea you needed to learn. You’ll learn more on here than if you took all three of those courses. Almost every member on the forum has learned the same way. After you learn the basics you can also ask someone if you can tag along for a few days and work for free but you probably won’t need to.

Scratches fur covered face. Isn’t that what every teacher does?

If they want all students to receive an equal education. I try to give enough advice here to get folks started and not hurt themselves but who wants competition to know everything you do. I’ve lost business teaching new guys everything I know. Those I’ve taught and have charged premium prices to learn what I know, but I don’t teach anyone in my service area anymore.

@marathonrunner @sgb I actually typed this reply last time I was on but forgot to press reply ! why not offer one of the experts on the forum who lives in your area and does exactly what you want to learn everyday the chance to make a bit of money whilst showing you the ropes. Makes perfect sense ! Action learning. !! spend a week or so shadowing someone on here and you will know pretty much learn everything to at least get you going.

@marathonrunner just read like suggested. You’re over thinking this. The best experience is personal experience. This forum has a master’s class worth of info. It’s a little more work, but you can book mark solid info here. Then take note cards labeled with specific info that you’ll always have. Keywords to look up: downstream, softwash, buffer tank, equipment, deck cleaning 101, chemicals, man honestly it goes on and on. Shadow someone look you already have offers.

I hear ya. The person who gave that testimonial was incredibly skeptical, at first.

I won’t try and claim that AC is a saint or reinvented the wheel or anything crazy like that. His marketing is on point, but more importantly, it really sounds like he has the most thorough class for power washing out there.

From what my friend said, there was no pressure to buy any of his fancy equipment, either. My friend is using a home built system.

At this point in the game, I don’t see the value in taking a class for myself. But if I were starting over, I can see the value others see in taking one. Unfortunately, most of the offerings out there are extremely limited in scope, and leave you to do a lot of critical research on your own.

The only true competition is yourself.

That would’ve made a great Star Wars quote.

I’m too sore and old to be much competition to myself

I am feeling that today.

@marathonrunner, if you read the names on this thread and spend a few days reading through their posts, you will realize like i have that their input is invaluable. There are several other regular contributing members to this forum that have videos to watch that will teach you what you need to know like @racer. I would love to spend some time with one of them if I had the chance. I am relatively new and can’t read enough on this forum. They are straight shooters. Thank you everyone!

This is definitely a concern and can’t imagine damaging a house because I screwed up not knowing what I was doing. On a side note, had a window cleaning customer today where his painted wooden siding and gutters were so bad, definitely needed a power wash. But after getting my quote and a quote for power washing, he basically was hesitating to do both.

Hence I used my waterfed pole to do the entire job and believe it or not it came out really good but my DI filter was completely used up from washing not only the windows but the whole house. My DI filter I used already on several houses previously so it’s still cheap. The worse part was the time it took to wash house. If I had a power washer soft wash could have probably saved a few hours of work. It took me 5 hours to do the house.

I don’t understand how you were cheaper scrubbing the siding with WFP?

I think you’re really overthinking it man. Look up stuff on this post about what not to wash. Your siding and p much everything is gonna be fine. If you cover electrical outlets doorknobs and doorbells you’ll be fine. Cover dark painted doors and avoid dark red, green, blue houses altogether. I’f you’re worried only do vinyl siding. You literally can mess up the paint job on that but may see oxidizaton. It seems you are unwilling to do the research yourself. There is info on everything you have questions about in this forum

And his house is still probably dirty. Why would you spend 5 hours brushing a house?

@marathonrunner do the forum and the up and coming young bucks a favour and never post again until relevant skills worthy of a mention have been obtained. Simply put, you have no idea what you are doing, it’s time to own up and take it easy on the posts.
