Hey all,
Picked up a new to us northern hot water washer a month or so back. Worked great for the first few washes, last time I actually washed with it, it misfired, belched white smoke and then the igniter died… (tested it the screwdriver way) anyway put a new igniter on it, put the cad cell in, it lights up and burns nice now. But… as soon as the thermostat hits temp and it shuts off, or you let off the trigger and the flow switch shuts it off, it starts belching white smoke.
Obviously this is fuel still getting in to the burner… question is, which is more likely, clogged/old nozzle or bad/leaky fuel solenoid? Or the electrodes being way out of adjustment? Nozzle or solenoid I think I can handle, I don’t know that I’m real comfortable with adjusting the electrodes, just doing some reading I don’t have the tools or knowledge to set them properly I don’t think.
But I guess a couple of questions. One, does anybody know who in the Charlotte nc area would work on these? And two what’s the best way to test the solenoid? And three, is the only way to get to the nozzle on these Beckett style burners to drop the burner assembly out the bottom of the coil?
Thanks!
