New super swivel leaking out grease fitting

”Super ugly but she should hold. “ is what I said to myself as I swapped out this bad boy.

Unfortunately this thing is dripping water out of nipple. For some reason I thought I remember someone saying they will drip for a few minutes and then stop. Is this just wishful thinking? Could have sworn I read that in here. Searched but couldn’t find a thread like that. Anyone have any input on this one?

It’ll happen once in a while. The ball inside isn’t seating correctly. If you’re not going to rebuild the old one, you can use that zerk, but It’ll probably seal after some use. If not, from the outside, push the ball in with a sharp object to reposition the ball. If all else fails, take the grease zerk off to check the inside for foreign material that may be stuck in there. Word of caution, when putting it back on, just snug it tight. It can break if overtightened.

I called super swivel and they said if it’s been sitting for a while and leaks like this it’s usually because someone hit it with grease with it being brand new and already packed with grease and that messes it up. I hadnt done that so he thought it was inna flat spot and told me to spin the whole swivel around. So that is what I did. Took off my chemical injector and spun that bad boy around a few times backwards and forwards. That seemed to do the trick!
