Pretty nice. I just parted out and sold my rig.

ryzen 7 1700 8 core cpu
asus prime 305 mobo
16gb 2x8gb gskill 2400?
1tb 7200rom hdd
250ssd
gtx 1060 6gb
850 watt pw
some cheap wireless card

I was gonna use it for virtual machines / 4k editing but rarely used it and stopped pretty much all dev work.

Was not bad for gaming, could do VR never did it though.

Nice build,

Here’s mine

I like AMD builds better.
Used to run 3 gpu on cross fire
Always played eyefinity.

Went Intel just because i could, but i rather do amd always

Nvidia surrounds sucks compare to AMDs eyefinity

Well it really came down to the i7 or ryzen 7 1700.

I ended up going with the ryzen for virtual machines and it has 8 cores which ends up being 16 virtual cores. Out performs the I7 on vr, virtual machines, and 4k editing.

Amd was staying second place, but really gave intel a run for it’s money with the ryzen. I would love to see higher core counts. They are really nice.

Off topic, how do you feel about fanless design and CPIs that don’t need fans. I run a chromebook for most of my tasks and it does a great job for being under #300.

Heavy javascript intense pages can be slow. 1080p hd screen that is really nice, keyboard and track pad are solid, aluminum case.

acer chromebook 14. Check them out.

Dont like fanless…only goid thing is that they are quiet but dissipate the heat. Which in theory is ok, because you have an exhaust fans on the back and on top.
I like water cooling, it is quiet and not as hot.
I keep my cpu under 35C
I like AMD for gaming and graphs, and eyefinity is far superior than Nvidias surround.
Now on VR, i believe that NVidia is better.koo
VR is gpu based. Not cpu, and you rely on your goggles too.
On any VR, just like on games, you have to identify your choking point, your cpu and gpu have to run as closely as possible.
If your cpu is at 14 and gpu is at 7 , or vise versa, you will experience stuttering and tearing, regardless of the goggles you gave.
I rather have them both at lest say, 17 and 16, for a smoother gaming.
Most games now a days are gpu based, 5 yrs ago it was cpu and ram with a good gpu processor, now your gpu has to have a good processor and a lot of ram.

I stopped using notebooks 8 years ago, waste of my money and time, i use note phones.

Higher core count…vs hyper threating…i will go with hyper threating.

Dont get me wrong AMD has a different architecture, they are made to run hotter than intel, they ran their cpus at 75, and is fine, but i always kept my AMDs at 45C and Intel T 33, 35C

I like pushpull on my water cooling, i use both static and dinamic fans, depending on how i want the flow to go for cooling…but temp also relies on your cable management

I uses to be very big into gaming but on xbox. I would wake up in the morning and play call of duty until i fell asleep and repeat. Now that ive got married with kids and all i barely have time to get a haircut of mow the lawn much less play a game lol. I do mess it.

Loved CoD!

Might be contacting you sometime in January if that’s cool. I’m going to build a new office computer that can handle serious video editing. Might need some advice.

I have an old build (2years) i5-6600k with 16GB and a GTX970. I dont play much anymore. Its still pretty good for editing video though. Was my first custom build. I played BF1 for a while. Never really made any friends.

I might have been addicted. I was #1 on the hardcore search and destroy ladder from black ops 1 until cod ghost:joy::joy::joy: had like a 14.0 K/D ratio. I was usaully in the #400 range in MLG leaderboards and even had a acout where i was in 6th if you know what mlg is. I missed the days when i had no responsibilities:joy::joy:
