New rig build

This has been a fun project. I found this 06 diesel box truck with only 50k miles for a good deal and figured I would turn it into a project. I’m welding up a latter rack today that will hold two more hose reels on the back and mounts for the surface cleaners and chem tanks. Then it’s off to get wrapped this weekend to match my other trucks.

What is the black flooring that you put on the bed of the truck before mounting equipment?

Horse stall mats from tractor supply. They’re about $44 for a 4’x6’ mat but they last forever.

I use 2 horse Mats stacked on top of each other for the deadlift bar in my downstairs. Helps not to shake the house when I drop the bar lol.

That’s a good idea. Holds up to SH and other chemical spills pretty well?

No they quit making the 7.3’s midway through 03. It’s a 6.0 that’s already been bulletproofed. Their main issue was the head studs and head gaskets which I replaced with ARP studs and gaskets. It may need a new oil cooler down the road but I just sold one with almost 600k miles with no issues. The main killer of this motor was heat from people chipping them and driving the crap out of them. The6.4’s are complete garbage and I don’t know much about the new 6.7’s. I switched to a Cummins but the price on this one was too good to pass up for the mileage. It will rust out long before the motor gives out.

Oh yeah. SH isn’t gonna eat through 3/4” of rubber very fast. I use a pump to transfer chemicals and if I spill a drop it gets rinsed. Nothing is gonna keep the rust away in this business but I at least try to buy a little more time.

Would have been a good idea to use the side panels to lay over the floor. You don’t need a rubber Mat on there, slippage isn’t an issue it should all be bolted down firmly being a flat deck

I didn’t know that.

Good looking rig but I can’t believe you wanted a flatbed over a box??? Even the best XLPE tanks crack from over exposure to UV rays, equipment getting wet from rain bites, protection from theft, big ■■■ billboard to wrap or letter. If it was damaged pretty bad disregard and why is you tail pipe not exiting the ummmm tail?

He’s in NC. No thieves here. :grinning:

Yeah right! I’m telling you man out of sight out of mind. Lil Honda’s walk off in the night

Bring a chisel. image

Box trucks look nice but having chlorine in there is much worse for your equipment than rain. The only thing that can realistically be stolen are ladders and surface cleaners which I haven’t had a single one go missing in 8 years. That Landa weighs 1400lbs and is bolted down so it’s not going anywhere. I’ve had box trucks, enclosed trailers, open trailers, and flatbeds and it doesn’t get anymore efficient then being able to get to a job and start rolling out hoses without having to ever step foot on it or open any doors. This is one of my favorite trailer setups I have ever used.

I had a machine stolen out of an enclosed trailer, parked in a storage lot with keyed entry. They used an air chisel to cut the padlocks and the bolts holding down the machine. Bought the machine that afternoon. Never even had a chance to turn the key on it. Thieves will steal anything anywhere

Hopefully insurance got you another new machine ?

This is why I have a wide lens duel dash cam to watch the front and back of my vehicle. So I have proof for insurance that I was hit or something was stolen

Didn’t pay anything. I hadn’t even put serial numbers on it, much less gave the numbers to insurance. $4k spent on something I never used.

But on the other hand, I decided to not work today and went to the cabin to cut trees. Singing on the way back.
