New Member Introductions

Hey there, I’m Ed with Eaco Chem. Some of you might know of us some of you may not. We are a small company north of Pittsburgh Pa with distributors all around the US and Canada. So here is a paragraph that is up on our Facebook page and website that summarizes our business here.

EaCo Chem, Inc. is a leader in developing a new wave of cost-effective and powerful brushless cleaning solutions for the masonry, construction and transportation industries. Our focus on brushless products helps contractors maximize profits, reduce liability costs, and increase productivity. EaCo Chem’s products are among the best available and include new masonry detergents, restoration agents, paint strippers, efflorescence removal, house and deck cleaners, truck washing soaps, and a variety of specialty products.

So I am not going to be on here just promoting this company and talking down to all other products that are talked about on here. I will simply be here to answer questions or concerns anyone may have about using our products. I will throw out some advice if I think one of our products could help a situation someone has.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and the friendly reminder at the bottom of every thread convinced me to finally create an official account. Since finding this forum I’ve already gathered a wealth of knowledge as I incrementally increase my interest and work in the power washing world. I currently live in the central NJ region and have been dipping my toes in various aspects of soft washing and power washing. Right now I am operating as a side gig as I still have a full time job. However, as I progress I see a lot of potential to turn this into a full time career. To date I’ve completed a few house washes and patio cleanings. I’ve gotten positive feedback on results so far and continue to read through various topics to increase my knowledge and hopefully my skill level. Quick Blooper confession - I had a pump sprayer with some SH mix sitting next to a wooden fence…I picked it up to move back to my truck, and accidentally hit the trigger sending a nice stream sideways across the wooden fence panel. Before I could even get back with the hose to spray it down it had created a nice brightened line right across the panel . Luckily after showing the customer and explaining what happened she was understanding. Luckily it happened in a part of the yard they don’t use much or see often. Lesson learned to always be careful and cautious when handling these types of chemicals. I look forward to continued reading and engagement in conversations with everyone going forward. Talk to you soon!

-Geoff

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been in the pressure washing industry for the last couple years. Based out in Northern California, Recently my father and I are trying to learn up on softwashing and add that as a tool to our belt. Took an online course at Pressure Washing U for softwashing which was pretty insightful, now just trying to get some practice under our belts!

Evening Guys,

My name is Ryan, 25 year old who got tired of having bosses and managers, I just started my pressure washing businesses here in Idaho. I saw that my area did not offer anything like this other then one guy who uses a pressure washer but mainly cleans carpets. I also noticed that the window washing companies around just say they can do it on the side but don’t push it at all. So, I saw an opportunity to fill a niche and took it.

A few years back I ran a auto dealership with two partners. We had a small pressure washer, couldn’t have been more then like 1.5 GPM, but I used it to wash off our lot and our large windows on our building. It was easy then, but when I decided to do this seriously years later I started doing research and found out that there is a ton of ■■■■ about this industry and it’s no joke. I came across this forum and I’ve enjoyed reading and learning from all of you who post. A big thank you to all of you who take the time to respond and help us noobies out.

So far I’ve been open for a month and a half, I found a few marketing investors who took care of the cost of doing the postal service EDDM and had 5000 postcards sent out. I’ve done close to 20 homes, Had a window washing company contact me to sublet which has landed me a few jobs, and overall I’m working on my Facebook marketing and will probably start door knocking soon if COVID calms the hell down.

I’m sure I’m gonna have some questions and it feels good knowing that I got a chance of getting some expert opinions from guys who have made it. I’d like to say 5 years down the road I’ll be making great money with a small or medium size team with maybe a business location as well. But for now, I’m getting skin cancer from the sun and staying plenty wet!

Cheers!

Hello, I’m from NY also. Did you find any of the legal requirements?

Welcome to the forum! There are several companies in your area that do something similar, you may want to check into your service area. I don’t live in the south and I know of three.

Congratulations on your business and welcome to the forum.

What up!
Im new and doing an intro. Im in southern CA. And starting a exterior cleaning business. My ambition is to have commercial clients in the future and high end clients. In starting out with an old landa 4gpm and a 01 silverado. Im almost done building my truck up. Most of my knowledge i been getting off YouTube and fb. Hi all!

First and foremost, thank you! This forum is worth its weight in gold and I appreciate everyone’s help

Like a lot of others, I finally reached a point in life where I need to work for myself. Purchased a home PW a few months ago and now I’m like a junkie looking for anything to clean lol.

I’m in the process of setting up my business as an LLC and researching equipment to purchase. Right now im focused on the business plan and educating myself as much as possible before plopping down some cash.

I’m working FT so just a side hustle until I can get going.

Total budget is about 10k but that has to include insurance and marketing so been looking at https://shop.pressurewasherproducts.com/SKID-COLD-55-GPM-3500-PSI-PRESSURE-WASHER-S-VB5535HGEA084TF-PWS-VB5535HGEA084TF.htm

My thought it the 5 will be easier to manage and with the budget I don’t want to go nuts om a trailer to hump around a 500 gal tank. Thought about used but want to try and mitigate early equip problems.

Still a crapton to read up on but wanted to throw my name out there. Using the beginners guide to equipment someone posted so rhats been a great help too.

Hi everybody! I am an hvac contractor in the Chicago area looking to add soft washing / pressure washing to my services offered. To be honest depending on demand & how I like washing could see transitioning away from hvac entirely. I have been doing a lot of reading here and learning a lot. I purchased a 5.5 gpm machine & am working on setting things up & practicing. I have been using pressure washers regularly for the past 40 years cleaning motorcycles , etc. I have cleaned my deck many times with my old home owner machine. The new machine is pretty amazing by comparison. Looking forward to learning a new trade & sharing information.

Welcome aboard! I’d keep any hvac certifications you need to do work in that field. Pressure washing is part time here in IL so it would give you something to fall back on during the off season.

Hi My name is John and i’m from north of Boston. Like most people I’ve been following this site getting great info and trying to learn from all your experiences, Thank You. Ive washed a few houses last year pulling around a PW, 5 gallon bucket and 50’ of hose. This year I’ve stepped up to a trailer with hose reels and a 12V pump system also, (all used). Started out slow just easing into it part time, sings and word of mouth. Hoping to start doing a little advertising soon. Ive learned a lot here but nothing beets on the job experience. So far everything gone good except for a little problem today. Thanks again for your help.

Hello Pressure Washing Community
I’m Jason from Miami,FL I’ve read this forum for 3 months before joining a year ago after losing my job as a warehouse associate. (forklift/pallet jack operator, etc.)
Since then I’ve been reading and studying here and youtube as much as possible. I have been wanting to start a pressure washing business for 10 years (I bought a machine in 2010). At that time, I studied for a day with an old pro from Homestead, FL who showed me his business and equipment. I had been working as an applicator out in Homestead area spraying herbicide (not good causes cancer) and a co worker connected me with the professional. The guy told me to start doing friends and family to gain experience. I still didn’t know what a surface cleaner was and well I ended up doing other things. But this time I’ll do it. Life is short and getting shorter but I still have the desire.
I’m not on social media or anything like that by choice. But here, I would imagine that folks deserve to know a little about who they are helping out and possibly preventing the fly by night"contractor" from bringing the industry to a lower standard. And who knows, this could be an opportunity to pay it forward if I gain experience and have any success at this. Thank you for your time and generosity.
