I can’t figure why you wouldn’t want your hose to lay straight on the ground.
Connection point at the reel is a decent idea if your reel doesn’t have a bend in it. Joining hoses with a 45 seems odd, unless you’re washing around the corner
I use a stainless steel coupler. No snags.
I see what you did there
So what your saying is that you are telling people not to do it because it seams odd. Also if you have swivel on both ends it always lays flat. And yes you are right I have used it as a tie off connection if I gotta be in a bucket
I don’t know what that means. I am only adamant about safety things and this isn’t going to hurt anyone. It will make the hose have a weak point from being bent at an angle and hang up on stuff but it isn’t going to hurt anyone, so I don’t care. I couldn’t ever think of a reason why I would ever put an elbow in a hose I want to pull straight though. I only get hose with a swivel on one end.
Hey @dperez you run 1/4" high pressure line right ? How much gpm do you think you lose ? Im thinking of running 1/4 hp line and 1/8 “chem line to supply my 2 step gun with 5.5 gpm pumps, i saw on ebay you can get a 100’ of 1/4” 5800 psi sewer jett hose for around $40. Im sure its alot cheaper in bulk.
There’s a lot to that one. The problem with running 1/4" is the back pressure your pump manifold will see. Anything North of 3.5gpm is already straining the pump. I’ve cracked many pump heads making it work. It’s not for the faint of heart. I even went as far as having my manufacturer in China alter the braiding with my weave design on my hoses. It took years of trial and error until I got a hose to last us 6 months. Before the best I could get is 4-6 weeks. Also that sewer jetter hose is typically R6 hose (textile reinforced)…read not what you want!
So why run 1/4 at 6 weeks best when 2 wire 3/8 could last 1-2 years?
Because @Seandz, 1/4 " hose is so light . You don’t even know your pulling a hose after dragging around a 3/8 hp all day long. And also its between $30 and $40 for 100 '…
OK, Brian @marinegrunt , you’ve had a couple of months with that hose. Are you noticing any of the irregularities in the hose that indicate a short life span as have I with the Rex Flex hose over at PWP? I seldom get more than 3-4 months before those start failing. I have to say that as much as I love those guys (and Lori) over at PWP, their after-service isn’t very responsive: I had a pinhole in a Rex Flex hose when it arrived. I left a message for Lori and she never responded. That pinhole went away quickly, but the hose began failing within 10 weeks.
Just ordered from Scott, looking forward to some good hose. Had 3 more pops last Saturday and getting tired of splicing hose together and cutting out the pops, only to have them pop somewhere else within weeks.
200’ of 2 wire 6k+ PSI delivered to VA for $280. Thanks, @Scott_Inks, I hope you’re the last supplier I need for hose. Put me on your list to call when the next shipment of 1 wire arrives, please.
Sorry I missed your post to me last week. I would’ve told you to order from The Hose Company. So far the 2 wire I have has been great. I’m not sure if you saw the pictures I posted above comparing the JGB 2 wire to the The Hose Company 2 wire but The Hose Company was beefier. It also had a larger diameter which I assume means a thicker rubber coating on the outside. I think you’ll be extremely happy with it George. Be sure to keep the thread updated so we know how you like it.
Anyone aware if the hose company is still selling direct, or have they gone to a distributor model?
Emailed Scott who referred me to his distributor, who quoted me $370 shipped for 200’ one wire.
Thought that was high.
If you look at George’s post above he said they’re out of one wire. That’s probably why he referred you to a distributor. That price does seem high for one wire. I would email Scott back on Monday and ask what the deal is.
I can report that the hose I bought from @Scott_Inks at The Hose Company is EXTREMELY HEAVY. It’s rated at over 6000 PSI, and although I failed to weigh this hose it wears my crew and me out by the end of the day. It doesn’t seem to get as hot when running the hot box as the hose I’ve run in the past, and it’s really thick and rugged. I fully expect this hose to do two things: 1) Last for at least several seasons and 2) Prompt me to buy a powered hose reel.
The 2 wire is definitely heavier than 2 wire from United Hose. I’m going to order some 1 wire next and maybe just stick to it even with the hot water washer. It’s definitely better made than most so maybe one wire will suffice.
I emailed JGB hose back about the new hose they were suppose to send me. He said it was shipped and will check into seeing if UPS lost it. If they did he’d ship another. I hope this isn’t going the direction I think it’s going…lol
Brian, they told me the exact same thing. Now they just ignore my emails. No more JGB for me
Junk Garbage Broke#%% hose
What a way to run a business. I didn’t even contact them about my hose when it burst. They reached out to me and wanted to make things right. Looks like someone with more authority at the company decided they’d rather lose customers than to do the right thing. I can care less about getting a replacement from them but I’m not going to let them get away with it so easy just because of how they handled the whole thing.
What store did you deal with @Innocentbystander? I ordered from the New York store the first time and Tim reached out to me asking about it because they got a bad batch of hose. That was a phone call. I wish it was in email so I had record of it. I do have record of him saying he’s sending a new one though.
