New biz insurance quote

He’s working without insurance. He ignores when questioned about it and admits he’s going to continue to work without it. He obviously has no regard for anyone’s property he may end up doing work for. If he causes any damage, he has absolutely no way to fix it. We all take precautions when working, but he seems to think that guarantees nothing will happen, regardless of the fact that he has very minimal experience.

Copy that!!! Yes, our clients should ALWAYS be protected, we’re human and all make mistakes. Hopefully we learn from them, but in any case it shouldn’t be up to our clients to pay for our learning curve. Good call, I thought for a second you were facepalming Erie insurance and I got worried haha. Just sent them my first payment for the spring

Your a trip.

I obviously want insurance but not about to pay 2800 for a year just to do a couple jobs, when my insurance won’t transfer to a new location

So stand high and mighty if you want. I’m doing what I can and taking precautions where I should to prevent issues.
Insurance is a must!

Haha if @Innocentbystander recommended them to you, you’re in good hands.

Complete disregard for whomever you’re doing work for :+1:

Not really.
Your just in a diff situation, I agree I need it. But like I said if it makes your comfy being a bagger, be one.

This is a place for learning and all I was doing was asking a simple question… but hijack it, keep sounding almighty.

But like I said insurance YESS! IT IS IMPORTANT

I’m not sure how it all works but you might be able to find a carrier who will work with you to transfer the policy from one state to another. I don’t know anything about them but Joseph Walters seem to be one that insures in almost every state. You at least hear about them a lot on here. Heck, if anything, insure job by job using Verifly or whatever it’s called. Somebody on here contacted the owners awhile back and residential pressure washing is covered. I’m sure it’s not the best option but better than nothing. I’m not sure they cover commercial but a lot of commercial require policy information before they even hire you to do the work.

Say whatever makes you feel comfortable risking other people’s property and possibly giving other newbs who come across this the thought that working without it is okay. It’s not in any circumstance. $2800 ÷ 12 months is only $233 per month. One job a month would cover that cost. You can continue to be ignorant to the fact though. I’ll drop it.

Ask them if they will prorate you on your premium. So you pay up front to get insured but when you cancel they mail you a check for your “unearned premium” I believe is what it is called.

I’ll have to check that verifly out.

Some companies, like Joseph d Walters, now allow you to pay only 50% up front. So in my case I paid a little over $700 down and then make two more payments over the year for the other half. Mine went up to $1648 last year but after the first year you just continue making quarterly payments. I now pay $412 every 3 months which is not bad at all! especially considering this is one of the biggest expenses for this industry (with the exception of equipment and supplies of course)

Got a pro-rated quote with fees out the ■■■, it was $900 for 1/4 of the premium plus fees.
Original premium was 2800/yr for 1 mil
And would only cover me in Louisiana

So I checked out verify, 350-400 for a month and that would cover me until I move out of louisiana in January.
Only reason I turned around and checked was a property manager messaged me about 3 properties.
Like I said before I agree it’s a must, but wasn’t going to get it considering the move and probably not getting any jobs between now and Christmas

But 3 homes totaling around $23-2800 I’ll eat the cost on the insurance and get a good review and some good pics, if I I get the approval of the quote.

Vinyl duplex 2 story 2964 sqft.
Brick duplex only one of the properties, cookie cutter as above
And a single story house with two drives

House 2400,1534,third maybe 2500= 6434
Concrete 1618, 1852, 2053= 5523
Wood fence one side 171 linear sqft
Brick fence dbl side 55 linear sqft
82 ft gutters

Should be a good bit of money to pay myself back for equipment
Just one pic

I went through Joe walters ins. And am also in LA. First season I called and said I’m packing up for the fall (went to do some insurance work) and would “start my business up again” in the spring. My agent told me know problem, just fill out a single sheet of paper and email it to her. I had a complete refund of the unearned premium 10 days later. No fees, did not change the premium in any way and they gladly renewed my ins the day that I called in January. Give them a call.

Also, I have a mil insurance and pay less than half what you were originally quoted.

Yeah I’ll give it a shot, I only have about 2 weeks of availability to actually get some work done before the end of the year, with all the other stuff related to my current day job.
So if I don’t get this job I’ll just wait until January and get started in north Carolina

I appreciate all the advice!

We’re you aware that they do not cover your equipment due to it being a coastal region? I had to get a supplementary policy. I would love to find a one stop shop that covers roof cleaning and equipment but so far they’ve either been outrageously priced or don’t check all the boxes.

Try travelers

Yeah I’m aware. I need to shop around too. Who is covering you for roof washing?

Good luck. Walters is the only way that I’ve found. With a supplemental policy to cover trailer, machines, etc through a separate company. Whatever you do, don’t leave Walters until you find something else. I heard that they are no longer writing new policies in Louisiana.

Let me know if you find anything better then Walters.
