Never buy blubird pressure hose -my testimony

Well…as a previous enthusiast of their product, i must begrudgingly redact my seal of approval. I spent 225$ on a 100ft shot of this and it leaked from where the end swivel was from the get go. To get a hold of someone there was a huge PITA. Just copy and pasted emails with no responses ever from them. Got a hold of a higher up and they said that i would have a replacement hose sent out but lo and behold it never got sent out. After 4 weeks of this, I emailed the president of the company explaining that i might have been lost in the cracks and never got a response.

I own 3 other hoses of theirs that were/are great but their customer service is terrible, and they seem to not stand behind their product. Please be aware that if its DOA or possibly if there’s any other problems while still under warranty…good luck and god speed because i got nowhere and am now out 225$.

Id rather you guys know about this so that you dont have to go through what i did.

I still haven’t heard about that Kevlar hose…or is that what your’s is.

I use their kevlar stuff. Stuff from last year is working fine. Bought 100ft of it new to put on the new rig just to make it easier for me. Only issue I’ve had was the one that was DOA

Ouch. Guess I won’t be considering it then.

I have used them for years. Actually bought a hundred footer several weeks ago on Amazon for $154. I always buy the 3rd party insurance. Problem solved.

They won’t ship to me in Alaska on Amazon unfortunately :joy:

Have a local hydraulic shop crimp you in a new swivel and keep going

Around me it’s a $20 fix

Yeah that would be an issue. You could always buy a crimping tool and fix it yourself. I like their hoses because they’re lightweight, but they only last me about half the time the wire hoses do.

Funny you mention that, I attempted to do that with a 200’ I was using a couple years ago. One week later it blew 10’ from the new end I just had done. Man was I upset.

@Chesebro @dcbrock The problem with that is just about every hydraulic hose repair facility will only carry one brand of fitting. Whether it’s Eaton Weatherhead, Gates, Aeroquip etc. SAE governing standards state that mixing and matching of different manufacturer hydraulic hose, couplings, and crimping equipment is neither permitted nor recommended due to safety, tolerance, and liability reasons. The bite to wire or through the cover (TTC) crimp fittings AND the hydraulic hose we use have to fall into a very tight tolerance before and after the crimp to work with one another. It’s been engineered as a SYSTEM and you can’t make changes to components and expect to be happy with it. No Skive field reusable fittings are the answer here!

Interesting. You just cut the hose then screw this together? How well does it work when the inside of the hose is corroded…which seems to be the main problem I have when they blow.

I get it, Once a hose blows I never repair them… they will pop again sometimes even that same day.

In his case, the hose is new… Id just have it crimped and move on… none of those crimps have failed me at least YET

You’ll need to cut it back enough to get to clean wire.
