Need some help guys and girls!

Stop going back there and fixing someone elses problem. Its an admission of negligence. Show up to get your check (however that was supposed to work). If they buck, find out why. Make them tell you whats wrong. You may be in the clear and are worrying for nothing. Likely, they will attempt to get the interior doors replaced through your insurance company. It was day 1 plan for them. Happens often. But after dealing with contractors in construction for years, Ive learned. Dont let them think for a minute you think its your fault. You will not be the sucker. Get your insurance involved after youve made that clear.

And keep your words to a minimum. That is key!

Another thing comes to mind, atleast here in the states, even if they win an insurance settlement they have to pay the original contract. Experiences may vary.

I’n Florida Insurance claims and payment for the job are separate issues in a law suite .

I agree with you somewhat, but it’s duty of care to respond to my customers needs where I’m able.

The locks worked as they should, then didn’t. My fault. I fixed it.

The doors? I haven’t touched them. They didn’t work as they should have. Not my fault.

Bear in mind, these are everyday people in these houses, not companies.

One lady had to leave the house unlocked, key stuck in door - so she called a locksmith (big $’s here). By going there promptly, I resolved the situation without cost and she was over the moon. Luckily the locksmith was too busy and didn’t return her call.

Staying away isn’t the answer. Sorry, that’s my opinion. I’ll do all I can, within reason, to show my duty of care.

Oh, I didn’t put tape on the locks, never had to - but I always will now. Thanks for the tip!

I appreciate all these points of view and the perspectives you’ve all given, thank you.

…I’ll post back about the doors.

Be professional … But don’t show them too much concern… Clients will feed off it and hound you even more… Remain calm and adress the situation calmly
