Hi, my name is Chris. I am new to soft washing today. I did my first roof and I definitely need some advice so I’ve done some concrete jobs and I’ve done some metal sheds but today I landed the first roof. The roof was not very dirty at all I’ll show some before and after pictures, so got my garden hose out, hooked up to their water pre-wet it all their vegetation and grass around the house went up on my ladder got my hose out and sprayed down the roof. I used a 3% mix. I have one tank with 12% SH and another tank with water, I set my proportionate set up to five on my water and two on my SH spray down the whole roof waited for it to dry, and it looked horrible to roof was covered in brown patchy spots. I told the owner I would be back. I was going to the store to grab a drink when I came back. The roof was still the same way, so I told the owner I was going to go up and rinse the roof off so I got up there. I rinsed it down for about five minutes. It got a little bit better but not a lot. I told him I will be back tomorrow and will apply second coat is my Sh not strong enough it can’t be that the rain needs to wash the soft because honestly, his roof has looked better before the washed and after😂
Not enough SH% and not evenly sprayed. If you are looking for a quick change in the color you will need about a 4% mixture on the roof .
That roof is pretty dirty. Skip the 4 and go to 5%. Looks like you’re in Fl. Unless you’re doing early in the day, wet roof down with water, let it sit about 5-10 min then apply your solution. What you’'re doing is softening up the mildew, so it will take the mix better. When it’s hot and dry, most your mix going to not penetrate, think watering a plant when dirt is hard and dry. Most the initial runs off. Also, when it’s real hot, most your mix is going to lose 50% of it’s potency in about 30 min or less.
Don’t rinse it. When it turns brown it’s dead.
did you hit it with the 5% or…? rinse instead?
5% again on the whole roof
