Need help choseing between a Husqvarna 4000-PSI 4-GPM or a SIMPSON PowerShot 4400-PSI 4-GPM

I will use this post as a bit of an introduction for my self, you can skip this and go to the second paragraph to not waste your time. I am 17, and currently I am working a dishwashing job to save up money to start a business. Furthermore, I plane to start small, I call it 0 to hero and since I don’t want to spend a year saving up when I can get something basic and start from there. Not only that, but I’m also homeschooled and have all the time in the world besides the 4 or so days a week I go in to work.

But I need help choosing I have read on here a few times that a good starting washer should be about 4000 psi and 4gpm, and I have found 2 with in my price range, now I just need help deciding. Also looking for recommendations if neither of these are a good Choice.

The first one, $900USD

the second $900USD

The second one has a “AAA” but 400 psi more. II need to know if the 400psi difference between the 2 is good enough reason to buy the Simpson with a “AAA” Pump. I have read on here that they seem to bleed and stop working, and that most people just replace the pump.

Either one will get your started. The Honda branded engine will be “more desirable”, in my opinion, however, both work the same way.
My Honda GX270 engine and AAA triplex pump are still going strong in my fourth year. I started off using them just a few times a month, but I’m up to the point where I’m using them 5-6 days a week so far this year.
These you have listed (and mine for that matter) are not considered commercial as I’m sure you’ll know, but get yourself quality bleach, surfactant, downstream injector and a jrod and you’ll be ready to tackle almost anything 2-stories or less that is residential. Best of luck to you - LOTS of great info on this forum!

Well, the best starter washer would be a belt drive 5.5gpm 2500psi. GPM is king, PSI is secondary. Wish I had started on one.

Oh and if there’s any way possible you can borrow a few hundred bucks to get one, do so. You’ll make that money back quick.

Here’s an example.

Keep saving until you can get a belt or gear drive.

I have the 2nd one only with a Honda GX390 instead of the simpson motor and its been great so far but if i knew more I would have gotten a better pump overall but live and learn. I will say the PSI means nada bro you will never really use half of that PSI if you are doing your job correctly except on concrete with your SC only time you should reach that. So worry about the volume as dc said that 5.5 belt drive would be probably super amazing as your gonna get some more volume which = a faster wash

Starting out, a business plan & marketing strategy carry more weight than the equipment by far, but it all still factors in. It’s tough out here starting out. All the info is at your fingertips but it’s going to take some serious diligence. Everybody & their uncle is in this rodeo nowadays. Also, starting up as a partnership with your friend is probably not a good idea. It’s not a side hobby once you bring licensing, insurance, taxes, etc… into the picture.

Solid advice fron the people above me. Belt, honda engine, commercial model, large wheels if you plan on moving it.
First maybe rent one for some jobs and see how you like it.

Keep in mind most houses are just fine with spigots supplying 4 gpm. 5.5 could struggle for water at some and should be ran off a buffer tank.

That’s a good point, he could rent one for a while.

I am assuming that I will need a buffer tank to run this? Probably nothing big would a 50gal tank work?

I also don’t know how to set up a tank, was wondering if you could point me in the direction, or just some terms to search on the site to get me started

Pretty much just put the tank in the middle of your supply hose…water in top, out bottom

A 5.5 just needs a tiny little tank, 30 gallon is plenty.
