My first concrete sealing!

I’m super excited about this, 3300 sq/ft total of driveway and pavers. Water based on the driveway, 20% VOC on the pavers to hep the colors come out.

I really didn’t have to roll the drive much, but the patio did require some effort. I used my little 1gpm 12v, then a pump-up for edging.

He gets back tomorrow so hopefully it is what he was after.

NIce! Had one pretty much like that lined up for today, but the weird weather made us rework the schedule…can’t wait to see how the aggregate comes out! Those premium services are a nice payday for you too!

We can’t nail down prices, it takes a LOT more effort to surface clean a driveway (especially sanded pavers) than it does to spray on a water based penetrating sealant.

It took me roughly 6-7 hours for 4400 sq/ft of driveway and having to find somewhere to rinse paver sand and moss. It took 2.5 hours today to seal, including a 20 VOC topcoat on the paver patio.

Now these prices per sq/ft you see on Google, does that usually include the cost of the sealant?

What sealer did you use?

Do you have any afters of the pavers?

That is the after. Before was really bland and bleached out looking.

Got them from a local masonry supply company.

What sand did you use?

Polymeric from Lowes, same stuff he used and asked for it again. I didn’t use it on the patio pavers, just the part in front of the garage.

Got it. Was the sealer still wet when you took pic of pavers? Sometimes it’s whitish when you first apply.

Reason I’m asking is the pavers have what looks like a white haze to them. That usually comes from the using cheap sand that has concrete dust in it and they don’t clean off correctly. Not saying you did it, but whoever did originally may have. Hardscape contractors known for doing that. I would have insisted on acid cleaning those first prior to sealing. When you don’t you don’t get much color enhancement. I get called in a fair amount of time to fix that.
Here’s an example - guy had paid $35K to have drive, walks and pool deck pavers done.
This is what they looked like about 2 months after the job when he called me

Here’s what they looked like after acid washing and sealing

The going rate around here since not a huge mkt like FL is about 2.25/ft including cleaning sanding and sealer (2 coats)

Here’s a sealing job I did last week. I was there staining the deck today. You can do this splash test within 1-2 hours after sealing it.

Wow Rick, amazing.

He did the previous sanding so I was just there to buzz it off and re-sand. I did blow and rinse the dust off thoroughly however.

I’m really more wondering about the standard price of surface cleaning and sealing standard concrete, we were thinking at least .70 sq/ft.

Rick - do you have any recommendations for a sealing contractor here in my area (Alpharetta) ? I have a job that looks like your former example picture and I haven’t taken on sealing as a service. I used a surface cleaner to clean the pavers, but it needs to be Reza fed and sealed to make it pop like your last picture. He could also use some help in areas to resend and level some of the pavers.

Call Trident. they just did a big training seminar in Atlanta month or so ago. They’ve got some pretty good contractors down there.

PS You need to learn. That’s a pretty big job there.

That’s less than half of it. I need a crew. Thanks sir!

I spoke to the customer and he wants to give me the work but has a big party on 7/8. I’m hoping I can get certified and be able to do the work by then. Thanks Rick!

You don’t have to be certified. Just learn how to do.

Go to Application Photos & Videos - Innovative Concrete Technology - this is product that I’ve used a lot, in fact pics above were done with this. Mike Kilgore, before he got bought out by SEK/Trident pushed this product

I tend to use the SEK/Trident products more now, unless I’ve previously done with the UreSeal.

https://sek.us.com/training-events/

SEK and Trident the same - SEK formed Trident to cater more to restoration market (ie Pressure washers) whereas SEK is aimed more towards hardscape contractors - Same product - different names - Both have free training videos

The Poly Sweep sand is great product.

Thanks I signed up for both. Trident has 3 classes and SEK has two so sure there is overlap but the more the better. Thanks sir!

Trident is awesome! They’ll give you all the training, they do in-person hands on as well. And they’ll help you get that price considerably higher too, lol. Pretty sure SEK and Trident are one and the same, all my Trident orders are issued by SEK.
