My first commercial job

Hello everyone I’m new to this forum and it’s my first time posting. I have to go give an estimate for a dollar general in Miami Dade county. They need me to pressure wash their parking lot, sidewalk and walk way this is my first commercial/ retail store job and needed some helping pricing the job I been doing only residential jobs for the past year. I need some help giving them an estimate I have never done this big of a job before. And one other thing I have a 5.5gpm 2500psi belt drive pressure washer will I need a 8gpm to do this type of job??? I .

! This is a picture of the dollar general the parking lot wraps around the whole store.

just bid how you would bid a house…

nothing magically delicious about it.

do they want that asphalt washed?(I doubt it) or just the curbs and car stops?

is it a single standing building or part of a long plaza, so do they want the side and back done also? or just the front?

be sure to find a working water source when you go to check it out in person

Yea I doubt they want the asphalt washed, those oil stains look horrible

They actually do want me to pressure wash the asphalt will degreaser work for those stains?? And it’s a single building the parking lot warps around the whole store. They want me to pressure wash the parking lot/ asphalt the sidewalk and the walkway.

cool, are they getting it seal-coated?

you may want to try to remove some of that oil by crushing kitty litter (a PWRA novelty, look it up)

you may want to use a leaf blower and remove any sand and rocks before doing that parking lot, otherwise you’ll be moving a bit of sand around which will take forever and may dry oddly if left. (IF sand is an issue there)

They didn’t say anything about seal coating it but I will ask them. And thanks for the input I will look that up right away. these forums are awesome!!!

well the sealcotating question won’t help you much, that was just out of curiosity, but I would think that the sealcoating guys would take care of cleaning before.

not sure why someone would want old asphalt cleaned, but hey, if they pay!

Ashalt is simply oily rocks crushed together. You can’t clean it with degreaser as the whole thing is petroleum based. Walk away from that nightmare

I think they are trying to get an asphalt companys work out of a pressure washing company. I would get ahold of some asphalt companys and see what a renew would run. Run that by the store after you explain what you can and cannot do for the asphalt. Contract it out.

It’s easy to damage asphalt especially with hot water. Plus it’ll make you look bad when it doesn’t come clean and give them an excuse not to pay
