Muriatic acid

Been doing alot more new construction cleanup here down in the south part of U.S.A.
Georgia to be exact. we have Georgia red clay down here. Only thing that will lift red clay out of cement is Muriatic acid ---- What will Muriatic acid ruin…? Lets say the over spray .Will it ruin grass? Metal on a window frame ?
Anyone screw something up with Muriatic acid ? The way I apply it is pour contents of acid in an empty bucket and then match that with water. Then down stream it and apply with a black, fan applicator tip.

  • Question again is : What will Muriatic acid ruin…?

Downstreaming muriatic is a very bad idea on every aspect. It is highly corrosive and will damage just about everything it touches if the proper precautions are not taken. It makes SH look like fruit punch. One drop, even at a down streamed ratio in your eye could blind you. Use a pump up sprayer or an electric pump to apply it. I would never run that through my hoses where SH also goes through. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. Also always add the water first, then chemical. Just my 2 cents…

never had any problems and have been doing it this way for about 2 years.

I can’t fathom applying it with a bug sprayer. Takes too long.

If you covering large areas use a 2-3 gpm electric pump. It will be effective, easier to control flow and over spray, won’t cause damage to your main equipment, and will be safer to use overall.

What ratio do you use with muriatic acid?
