We have done a few gas stations in the past but nothing of this size. I was presented with the opportunity to put together a big for 42 gas stations and am unsure how to price this out. Generally, we do one at a time in which case we make a visit to the gas station and measure pad sq ft, take a look at the canopy and estimate time to clean and shoot off of that. This scope will include canopy and canopy underside, station pads, building cleaning, and all sidewalks. Some of these locations range up to 5 hours away! Anybody have any recommendations on how i can price this out without having actual square footage of these locations? I think our last gas station cleaning which included the same services was somewhere in the $1400 area!
Where are you located?
jersey!
I would first look into if you’re able to handle that much work if they have a deadline. I would have a hard time with that many gas stations if it was a tight schedule.
Measure Map app and Google street view help me out tremendously.
Ive tried that, seems like the canopy gets in the way to get an accurate sq footage
Can you elaborate how they help you?
measure map pro is a great way to measure sq ft of areas. We use it frequently. especially when pricing roofs.
Interesting. Thanks
I use measure map (free version) primarily for houses, driveways, and roofs. Decks, I like to check out in person. I charge house washes by the linear foot per floor, so I use measure map to get linear feet, and the square footage of driveways. Google street view, and many times old mls listings help to get a better idea of some houses that aren’t as cut n dry as a 2 story on a slab.
Yeah, I thought about that afterwards. A lot of stations here have the canopy about the same size as the pad. I use it for almost all residential estimates, and most commercial too. Although bigger commercial jobs, I go check out in person. You could go measure a few, then find out if any of the others are much different as far as number of pumps, and give them an average. Helps if you know how big the largest one is, and if they’re all configured close to the same. Only thing about not being able to go see the ones further out is you don’t know how dirty they are, unless the managers send you pictures. If you’re pretty sure you might win the bid, it may just be time for a road trip.
