Monster Deck

Got a call today to quote a huge deck at a river house. Deck has never been stained. I’ve always used a hot SH mix to clean decks but it seems to always take me forever. @Patriotspwashing I remember reading a thread a few months back about chemicals you used and having to simply just rinse. I can’t find that post for the life of me now so do you mind pointing me in the right direction? mage|375x500](upload://7QSVMzeYCXSmlZPabvYTVvoYlvr.jpeg)

Potash. Might not be good to get it in the river

Hes living the dream. What is he using? Ive had some requests to do docks but i told them id have to do them in the winter when they open up the dam so i dont get chemicals in the water.

@Innocentbystander only potash I’m familiar with is the third number in fertilizer. Is this the same thing?

Caustic potash, sodium hydroxide. Both are the same thing. On the Beverly hillbillies Granny called it lye soap

Gotta love ole granny. I’ve got a sister ten years younger than me and we named her Ellie after Ellie May. Thanks for the info. Maybe I can search for mix ratio and dwell time.

Potassium Hydroxide and Sodium Hydroxide are not the same thing…they do work similar though.

@Innocentbystander I went back and done some reading and seen where you mentioned mixing 72 ounces of potash flakes to a 5 gallon jug of water and downstreaming for stripping a deck.Is this what you would recommend on this deck even though it’s never been stained?
