So I got a coxreels hose reel so I could modify it for supply line… even tho I bought “heavy duty” hose with poly braid on the inside, it was still kinking on the very inside of the reel becuase of the way the hose had to twist and turn to wind around… So I’m trying this out, I’ll let yall know how it plays out. I’m open to suggestions if any of you have any ideas of how to make it better !
Uploading…It will still kink
You need to have the brass 90 extend pass the metal drum the hose winds around so it doesn’t kink. Maybe add sometime of extension.
@Innocentbystander how do you do it buddy ? Just pull the hose like a real man? Forget the reel or what? Lol
I use a reel to hold the hose. I pull of the hose I need and hook to the tank. Each truck has a lead from the tank on each side of the truck to hook the hose into, plus an air gap feed for when we are using hydrants
What is an air gap feed?
Water flows into opening in tank with an air gap of six inches. Prevents back flow
That was a lot of effort for something that could be accomplished with 16” of flexible pvc or spa flex.
@Alabama do you have a pic of your hose set up or a link to it?
@squidskc I’ll try that !!
This is the easiest/best way I’ve found to get rid of kinks on supply reels. You need 2 threaded hose barbs, 2 hose clamps, and about 1-2’ of spa hose.
No more kinks. Only have to pull off as much supply as you need for job at hand.
I must be dense tonite. What are you’ll trying to accomplish here? What kinking are you talking about?
I have no clue why the Cox reel wouldn’t have a manifold so with the way it’s set up the hose would have to make a hard right to exit the reel causing a kink. And I have no earlthly idea what the next guy is doing with the suction hose lol
Because the coxreels ppl are morons. Such a horrible design. I ordered a summit hose reel from pressure tek, for my pressure hose. I hope it works out.
I’m not firmiliar with that reel. Are you sure it’s not for air hose?
They can be for either. But the one I purchased was marketed for washing.
Kinks from what?
The reason you are having the problem is because you opted for the slightly cheaper reel. My cox reels have a curved manifold and don’t kink a bit. I even use my PW line while it’s still on the reel and doesn’t restrict it! Mine also don’t have that big cutout like yours. Just cut out where the line connects.
@Racer the hose hooks up on the INSIDE of the reel and has to twist out to wrap around the reel… it tends to kink with any hose you get. That’s why were brainstorming on how to hook it up. I used spa hose today from lowes. Now my reel works great.
The hose reels have a 45 that comes off the manifold. When you spool your reel with supply hose it tends to kink right there at the connection. By taking stiff spa hose it is able to spool smoothly with no kinks at the neck of the hose.
