Missing Keystock?

Hey everyone! I fired up my machine yesterday and immediately had a severe loss of pressure/flow on a Udor 5 gpm gear drive, for the first time since I bought it back in 2022. I removed the gearbox from the crankshaft and noticed that the key stock was missing entirely, has anyone ever had this experience before? I’m not entirely sure that this is the only culprit of the issue, the top of the gearbox had been leaking a bit for some time around the plug area and I had just been keeping it full up to this point. I’ve included some pictures also to see if there may be something else that I’m missing.

Are you starting your engine full throttle or idled down?

@OhioFloMo I’ve been starting it full throttle.

I can’t be positive that’s your reason, but if memory serves me, the other times I’ve read this happening that seemed to be the common denominator. Seemed the logic is that enough give between the shaft and gear with repetitive bashing starting full speed from stop will eventually wear out the key way. I’ll see if I can dig up the thread.

@OhioFloMo Makes perfect sense, thank you for your help!!

have a welder add some material to that crank. then using a dremel cut you a fresh crisp slot.

I had the same issue last year with the disappearing key. The engine crank is great for like a 1-7/8 key but the slot in the gearbox is around 3 inches long. Too short of a key can walk around until it disintegrates under a load. The hollow shaft in my gearbox cracked as a result and I replaced the whole thing.
