Maximizing Facebook

I don’t know to much about Facebook and use my wife’s Facebook to manage my business FB page. I haven’t done much with my business FB page to market myself mostly because I don’t know what to do besides making paid advertisements. Can you guys provide me with some sites or links that can help me utilize FB better. I would appreciate any real world advise from guys who have success with getting business from FB.

I used FB for another side business I ran and it was nothing but a waste of time and money. Lots of comments, lots of people wanting items for free, a negative review from a person that had never even bought from me, because I wouldn’t give her 30 yo daughter a free 4’x6’ Harry Potter wall hanging I spent 15 hours carving, wood burning and staining… long story short deleting FB was one of the best decisions I’ve made in the last 5 years.

Just my .02 and worth everything you paid for it - Don’t use farcebook - momma said it’s the devil. Can’t say enough about how they steal your data and sell it to everyone under the sun, that is why it is free. If you paid for it, you might have some modicum of control. Facial recognition, yep, you gave it to them. I know a lot of you use it for business, but be careful what you put on there. That information just doesn’t stay in the U.S. it is sold and resold overseas.

Criminals use the information on farcebook too, it is well known.

I had a lot of luck with Facebook this past season. I didn’t keep up on weekly posts or anything but I had customer’s find my page and leave reviews without even asking. I had one lady post pictures of her deck I did which led to numerous comments and jobs.

I did really well with paid ads too.I didn’t keep track of the numbers but they were definitely worth it. I did a time lapse of a house which gave better results than a slide show.

I know I didn’t answer your question but the main thing is staying engaged. Just make a post daily or even a few times a week. Post pictures of recent work. To be honest I hardly know anything about Facebook. I only created an account because of my business. I’ve never messed with my personal account that I had to create to make a business page. I’m not a fan of Facebook but it’s a necessity for business. It’s basically free marketing and almost everyone has an account.

I’ll definitely be following this thread. I didn’t do near as much with Facebook as what I should have besides the paid ads. I hardly ever made daily or weekly posts to stay engaged. I might see if my wife wants to handle it next season. She’s a teacher so has the summers off and that’s my busy time.

I got this a couple of years ago for the off season with zero prior social media experience or interest in it. Facebook has worked great for me, I don’t do any ads but will sometimes boost a post for $10 if I have a good before and after, and that’s it. I’m still part time for another year but it’s kept me pretty busy, along with Google My Business, also free.

I came across vids on north node solutions’ page a few days ago, and watched all of them. Go check them out. Don’t personally know the guy, or pay for any services, but the info in the vids is good stuff. I’ve had no luck with fb ads in the past. Always did the short direct ads, like “is your house dirty” and “Do you have…” Facebook is not like eddm, and cannot be treated as such with ad copy. Gotta treat it like talking to a group instead of one on one. Don’t start your ad with a question, don’t use the word “you” in your ad, and don’t make a short ad with a call to action early on. Long form ads with meaningful content get much better interaction. Speaking from trial and error (lots of error) experience on that. Also, pics that look organic and not professionally edited seem to do better. Same with text in ads. Less professional, more average. Like you would say it if you were talking to someone.

I met with a rep from a marketing company and he said I need to do a lot on my marketing in social media. He said start with FB. I know guys on here have had a lot of success with FB and ones who haven’t. I’ve done well with Google reviews and ranking my site. I want to improve my Social media marketing. I don’t know squat about it. I’m trying to learn as much as I can now.

@Clean_Blue it can be worthwhile to do business on Facebook however, you have to weed out the sh*t kickers and not respond to negativity only genuine comments and enquires. It’s basically a forum, expect all kinds of good and bad things coming from Facebook. I personally don’t use Facebook because I think it’s a toxic place to be just in general.

i have personally done pretty well on facebook. i have quite a few friends on my personal page, as well as my fiancee and mother, so us sharing my business pages’ posts gets more shares from friends…which is basically free referrals
