Hi all, pretty new here. Been reading a lot of the posts here and learning a lot. I am retired and have done a fair amount of flat work using just water with a surface cleaner and turbo nozzle. Now I want to do a house wash with s.h. I bought a downstream injector and did a 1 minute draw test using water instead of sh for now. I drew 2.625 gals (336 ounces) of water and 50 ounces of sh (water really) in one minute. If I did the math right (using 12.5% sodium hypo) I think I would have .84% of sh hitting the house?
336 ounces / 50 ounces = 6.72
6.72 x .125% = .85 actual sh
I could be way off here, and I appreciate anyone’s help!
ps - I did a search with the title of my post and came up with nothing
50 of your total of 386 is SH, meaning your ratio is 50/386 = .13. Multiply that by 12.5% and you get 1.6%, so pretty strong for house washing, you’ll want do do 50/50 SH and water to start and adjust from there.
For vinyl, I like to stay around a 0.6% for most, 1% if it’s really bad. But I prefer more dwell time and working multiple areas over doing one side fast. That’s why I say start there and adjust for how you like to wash.
Hey Nick,
To piggyback this, if I’m putting out 7.5 gpm and drawing one gallon 12.5% through the injector at 1.5 minutes, what am I looking at?
Do you know for a fact you’re getting 7.5 gpm and is that measured with the injector pulling? You need to know your true output. Is that output not including the SH pulled?
Lets assume you are getting 7.5 gpm, so that’s 11.25 gallons in 1.5 minutes plus 1 gallon of SH, you’re 1/12.25 x 12.5 = 1.02% SH.
That’s what I was thinking, about 1%….thats what I get approximately.
Sorry I don’t know the total output, I’ll have to measure again once the big ball of nuclear fire drops lower in the sky.
I am just going off the plain water output without the injector pulling. If I can achieve 1% again like I did with the 5.5gpm, heck yeah!!
Looks like you’re good, even if you’re getting the full 8 gpm out of it, you’re still getting 0.96%, so close enough
Thanks again Nick. This site has been really helpful to me.
This FlowPro is a game changer. Draws directly from my bleach tank now.
You upgraded your setup ? @dcbrock
I did! @Kentucky1234 suggested it, works a lot better than the TeeJet I was using. If I was smart I would have listened to him and just bought the whole remote system instead of buying bits and pieces😑
No worries….you’re up and running. Congratulations!
You’ll definitely like using it. What I did with mine is I have a little inline 2 way I got from Russ that pulls from my water tank and I just turn the valve to water at eod to flush out injector.
On my new trailer build I have main line pulling from soap/SH tank and a drop tube on 2 way that I can just drop into, acid, degreaser, plant wash etc.. To rinse injector, just drop it into bucket of water and let run for a min.
