Marketing Idea

There is much discussion about marketing methods and how to generate additional sales etc. So the question I have followed by what I think would be effective is: How many times when driving around for work or any other time do you see great potential jobs? I’m talking about brick or stone mailboxes covered in mold, rust stains coming down the side of houses from AC overflow, filthy driveways etc.
I see them all the time and think to myself, if I could get in front of that person or business I know I could sell the job.
It came to me to create several template type flyers with before and after pics of whatever the particular problem is. I’d have one for rust removal, another for moldy mailboxes, dirty house trim etc. Then when you see that type of problem, you drop off the flyer that addresses their particular issue. You can make them yourself and just keep a few in the truck.
I haven’t done it yet because I can’t take more work on right now (new customer’s are getting scheduled for Aug) but some of us are looking for a way to jump start things right now so I thought I’d share the idea.

Probably more cost effective to have 4 of the most common problems featured on just one flyer?

Maybe, my thought was to gob smack them with the solution to their specific problem since it’s the one you saw driving by. I’m sure it could work either way.

Warms em up for that pitch. More effective in time in that any call backs from said flyers is sold. Maybe some upsale but they are on the same page as what needs to be done. Now y’all just need to figure out what else your cleaning. Shows more value as well. Your not just coming through trying to wash the entire property you have identified a problem and given the homeowner a solution.which is basically a pitch just they get the pitch on paper. I’ve been wanting to do this exact sort of multiple templates. Think it’s a great idea bub.

I think you’re on the right track…but my question to you would be if you see a mailbox covered in mold or a filthy driveway, what are the chances the deck is clean? What are the chances the North side of the house is spotless?

My point is, don’t look for jobs. Look for customers. When you see a dirty mailbox, you’re seeing a SYMPTOM of greater negligence. Targeted flyers may be effective if the homeowner isn’t home and you can’t get in front of someone, but there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction. It’s extremely easy to say no to a piece of paper. It’s far harder to say no to a person.

The only purpose of the targeted flyer is to get in front of or to contact a person you wouldn’t otherwise get to see. 2/3ds of the people I do an up sell on from their wood restoration call do not even know that the black stuff they are looking at on the driveway or front of their house is mold or even that they can do anything about it. House washing and roof is not much of a “thing” here, neither is vinyl siding.
