it seems like most guys go with a skid. are there drawbacks to wheeled machines?
i’m just wondering because i have lots of potential jobs where i would need hundreds of feet of pressure hose. to reach all the way around these large estates we work on, it seems like it would be really hard to do it with a skid.
for instance, i have a job coming up where the surface i need to clean is literally 500’ from the closest parking space. there’s water hook-up closer, though.
flip side is though, how do you stay connected to your buffer tank if you have to move your wheeled 8gpm machine? would it just be better to have 500’ of pressure hose? or do you just use a 4gpm machine if you have to work that far from the vehicle?
The most hose that we have had to use was 600’. Down hill. I can not imagine what it would have been like dragging a machine down and back up the hill.
If you are washing anything larger than a starter home, it is only a matter of weeks before you get a 5.6 or 8 gpm machine.
If you value your back over the long haul then skid it. We have no problems running hundreds of feet of hose off our flatbed. A 20lb hose is much easier to deal with then a 400lb hunk of metal barreling down at you while your a slave to it pushing it around.
Tim4, when you’re using that much hose, do you need to move your DS further down the line because of additional back pressure? Or is that not really an issue?
