Machine bogging when I spray

Hey guys. Anybody know why my machine is low on power and sounds like it wants to cut off when I spray? In idle it sounds fine. Oil/filter, fuel/filter, pump oil good. Im thinking its the unloader(k7) but any ideas? Thanks, Matt.

I’ve had this happen with a bad unloader… Maybe something too look at

Thinkin bad coil now…

Pop the gas cap off the tank. Just one thing in the process of elimination.

Its the left coil…

Mine was doing something similar, it would run great on the trigger but choke when you left off. If was a dirty carb, if I remember right someone told me there are different jets that supply idle versus wide open fuel? Could be wrong, but either way it was an easy fix.

No spark on the left… coils for these are $130. @Innocentbystander sound bout right?

You haven’t told us what machine you have.

PP 8gpm 3500 Honda 690. The only machine :sunglasses:

@Nashvillewash Haven’t come across anyone running dual coil yet, but my company has sold some in the past and I’m curious about them. What is the pressure loss through coils? Do you lose the same amount of PSI per X amount of feet in coil as you do in hose? Thanks in advance and I hope you can get it fixed up!

Its running on one cylinder…

Failed spark on left cylinder. Mechanic says common for the left on these. Idle sounds fine until I spray, then it boggs. Parts ordered, gotta replace both coils with updated part number as they must match. Previous part number ends in -033

Hope this helps someone in the future.

All 690’s run two coils. Not sure you have a grasp on this pressure washing thing

Yes. Keep a coil pack on the truck. You can get them for $80 on Amazon.

@Innocentbystander I was definitely on the wrong track here. I thought he had a hot water unit and was referring to the heating coil when he first referenced a coil. :man_facepalming: lol thank you for the clarification!

Hey Mathew, how many hours on the motor?

765 hours. Admittedly I havent performed a search for this recently (relocating has been a deal) but gettin caught without spares has me wondering. What parts should I be stocking other than regular maintenance?

coil, 30 amp fuses. Anything else pretty much needs to be tinkered on at the shop. Only other main issue is the governor. Mine typically let go around 3k hours. Then it’s a crap shoot to replace it or bolt on a new engine. there are good for about 4k hours.

Thank you! How long should I expect the battery to last?

I buy the cheap lawnmower batteries at O’reilly’s for about $40. They’ll last a year or so. Pull the choke every start, even if it’s warm. Helps keep the fuse from blowing.
