Hi, I’m new. I’ve got a mitm proforce 2400 I’ve had for over ten years, the pump is getting weak but still hanging in there and that’s another job for another day. I’ve recently moved into an old house that doesn’t have the strongest water pressure, so I believe that is the main reason for my problem. I have a 55 gallon plastic drum in the back yard conveniently enough, could I make a gravity feed tank out of it too supply the washer? Thanks!

That won’t help in this situation. Since…
Trying to gravity feed a bad pump with just 55 gallons is going to be a frustrating adventure. Unless you feel like keeping the 55 gallon buffer tank in the back of your truck and PW on the ground. Even then if water flow is as bad as it’s sounds getting water up into the tank is going to be even slower.
If your machine is 2.5 gallons per minute, let’s say, 55 gallons will be empty in 22 minutes. That’s assuming it will gravity feed at 2.6 gpm or better. Should probably use at least a 3/4 inch hose.
You need at least 2.5 gallons from the tap to keep up. Anything less than that and you’ll be taking a lot of breaks.
Direct drive pumps will work gravity fed, but they’re designed to be force fed.
If it were the other way around gravity feeding a pump would come first and you wouldn’t have to modify the thing to to make it work. They’re designed to be force fed. Plug and play.

if 2.5 gpm is all a little washer needs, I think I have that much pressure at least. probably just need to make sure the washing machine aint running and my wife aint taking a shower. haha, but youre probably right about the pump. I let my brother in law borrow it a few years ago and it hasn’t worked right since (just like anything I let him borrow)
