Hey guys. Had my rig stored since March with RV antifreeze in it to protect from rusting and freezing. Cleaned the tank and filter of any gunk and checked the lines to the pump and all is clear. However the PSI is only 2000-2200. Checked the unloaded and it seemed loose and askew from last use. I tightened it all the way down, makes trigger hard to depress, and pressure was still 2000-2200.
Pump oil hasnt been changed since storage but was changed recently before it because its still pink. Maybe a slight clatter from the engine (have to change oil on that).
UPDATE: I removed all 6 valves. 2 of the bottom ones, the end cap holding it together got stuck and I’m unable to pick them out. I have a magnetic wand but theyre nonmagenetic.
Each valve moves freely, nothin is gritty, although some of them look rusty the valves go up and down normally. This is my first time removing the check valves since owning it. Keep in mind I kept antifreeze in it to prevent corrosion for the last 6 months.
The too valves look rusted but push up and down without any resistance or grit. The bottom valves essentially unrusted but 2 pulled out without the top washer part staying on them, which I am unable to pick out. Gonna run fresh water over them and reinstall for now, in case any potential grit got on valve seals.
After rinsing the valves and checking they all seemed to seal i reinstalled them and ran the pump. I managed to extract the top plates on those two bottom valves and they seat normally: the only one that I’m iffy about is the 3rd top valve; pushing down with my finger and release would sometimes have it sit at a weird angle but I chalked it up to how I was pressing it down. Pressed straight down it would come back up normally. Still only getting around 2600psi. I checked the bypass and have zero flow into the tank when pulling the trigger. Adjusting the unloader didn’t affect the bypass flow so I’m wondering if the issue lies there. Surface cleaner runs okay enough to clean slowly if I have to. Nearby parts shop wanted $350 for a kit 169 valve replacment kit. Online its $160 with shipping.
The belt is as tight as usual. I rechecked the orings for the valves as im still only hitting 2600psi. Top right valve, furthest from water inlet shows some chatter on the inner o-ting. Not a tear and I’m Not sure if its enough to have loss of pressure but its the most damaged oring. All the others look fine.
Does your unloader have the easy start bypass ( a little loop with a valve on it) ? My pressure pro’s all came with that when there new ,and each one gave me problems so I take off the whole loop and plug it. Those easy start loops show the same symptoms as you are having.
Just at a glance it sounds like you ruled out the unloader. If your pump is putting it out, it’s either going out of the pressure hose or through the bypass or a combination of both at all times. If not, it ain’t coming out of the pump for whatever reason.
It causes low pressure because it sticks open and allows water back to the buffer when on trigger. Every pressure pro we buy we take it off and plug it because they always caused us problems. Now you gotta start the machine with the trigger pulled, but we’re used to that anyways.
No water is going to bypass into the tank. Are you talking about the valve to the little hose that loops back into the water inlet? Ill try taking it off and seeing if I can unstick it. I’ve had this for 3 years now and its the first time I’ve had issues with it, granted only 318hrs of runtime in all that time.
Ok so maybe the gauge was f’d up all along or back pressure broke it today. Was doing a small patio job when I saw this while gassing up. Hoping none of that fluid got into the pump somehow.
Looks like the rubber blow out plug came out (possible from too high of pressure). Is it missing from the gauge or just loose/not seated right? I’m surprised you didn’t lose all the glycerin since it appears to be hanging upside down. I don’t believe there is any way for that liquid to enter the pump.
Well another day another issue. Changing oil and filter and it leaked during fillup. Figured maybe some spilled from pouring in funnel too fast but then i notice the dip tube might be leaking around gasket. Then i fonish filling up, wipe spilled oil and try to run it. Draineater after and notice oil slick in it. Stop draining and run emgine again and it seems to be leaking from valve head. Theres also loud valve clatter noise in the video i took. How? Its a honda igx800 that has been meticulously maintained. Oil filter brand new plastic fully removed, 10w30 super tech oil, whats the issue?
