Little Calendars

@Harold You are spot on in that you do not want it to be another annoying direct sales pitch.

I make it like a 1 sheet flyer. Have a recipe, have some “informational” type quips - like the one going out now talks a bit about freezing temps and your water pipes (just now getting some 32 degree temps at night), I have a piece about planting your flower seeds/bulbs now for spring, upcoming holidays, etc.

Really only about 3 inches by 3 inches is directly about what I do. Maybe a special or promo, I have a driveway/sidewalk deal now that the oak trees are finally finished drooping all the acorns and everyone’s driveways and sidewalks are stained to the tilt.

I agree with @Patriotspwashing - I spend most of my marketing currently targeting commercial. I rely on my 30 year experience in corporate america understanding how they think, make decisions, etc. For me, commercial has been way more profitable as an ongoing reoccurring income with larger projects and revenue streams. Residential so far, has been the gravy on top. I currently have 20 monthly commercial accounts and looking to get to 30 in this first quarter. While that is happening, ramping up my residential efforts within select areas to fill in the days. My current goal is to have 8-10 commercial accounts each week (restaurants, conviences, etc) - that average $350 each. With that I can project to bring in $126k per year only take 20 hrs a week average to do. Then ramp up residential to bring in 5 jobs per week (low goal) at $350 average to bring in an additional $91k per year. If I can hit those targets then 2019 is looking to be $200K plus. In 2020, I want to be over $300k in annual sales adding 2 more crews and getting out of the day to day hands on work.

Scavenger…when googling condo associations i found it on like the 7th page. It was there Facebook page. It’s more of a word of mouth thing between condo associations.

I’ll pm you the website, or there Facebook. Maybe it will help you with searching

I’d use this over a magnet. The last company I worked for had a printing error so they gave boxes to us at work. I handed them out on Halloween with some candy…it was a big hit, even with the misprint.

It’s flat, it is magnetic so it can go on the fridge, and it’s a flashlight.

The problem with refrigerator magnets is they don’t stick to the newer SS models.

Speaking of marketing, what are you folks thoughts on giving out bumper stickers and telling customers that if their car is spotted around town they can win a 100 dollar visa gift card? A bank does that around here, so I’ve seen those stickers on quite a few cars

Who in charge of doing the spotting and rewarding. How can you keep track of this?

Not a chance I would put some business bumper sticker on my car for $100…

I took off the truck badges and dealership logo the day I brought them home so I may not be the best person for that type of promo

Not sure who did it for the bank, a regional manager I suppose.
I would do the spotting myself, in the T&C maybe state it’s only once a year and tell them the odds of winning

@CFH yea it’s not for everyone, but at least they’d still get a sticker

How many of you just park your rig at a super busy Wally World or mall just for marketing? Maybe at a strategic corner of an intersection that gets great visibility by folks just sitting waiting for the light? Does that work at all? I was thinking of buying an old U Haul truck (18 ft) and just doing wrapping on the box on the sides only and making it a mobile billboard. Figure I should be good leaving it in a parking lot for 6-8 hours at a time and move it around so no one property sees it out there everyday and gets pissed off or something plus it will look like I am all over the place. I have a very busy intersection that I could go grab coffee and donut at 6:30 am and park it in a corner and sit in it until 8 am. Probably have 10K people see it in just that time (not exaggerating). Hit it again 4-6 pm. As I sit here thinking, being in a major city I could go to a dozen intersections within 3 miles of my shop and have the same effect. Worth it?

I wouldn’t do it if the only person spotting is you. I wouldn’t do it period, but if I was even on the fence there’d have to be a lot of spotters. Especially if it’s a big city.

One of my trailers is wrapped and I do leave it places to be seen. Heck, I’d drag it to the golf course on Sunday when I would go play. All relatively affluent people that hire others to do stuff for them are playing golf…Good for a couple of jobs a month and I was going there anyway.

I wouldn’t make a big deal about spotting

But yea I’d probably have someone else do it, because chances are I’m gonna see clients more often

I like the parking the truck idea. Currently I’m going out of my way to drive through a neighbourhood I’m about to send eddms to, hopefully people at least read my company name and it will ring a bell down the road

Ha, I still build my invoices with Excel but that’s because I haven’t found anything else that will work like i want it to for fleet washing

I have carbon copy types made at staples for when i need to hand a paper quote/invoice, but i use the customer factor to schedule, invoice, estimates, etc
