Lithium batteries?

$900 for a 100AH battery. They better last a lifetime for that price lol

I guess who/where they came from has no bearing on what I would see the right way to handle the situation. I dislike China as much as the next guy, but still…

I’m a firm believer in karma.

I think I’ve picked up on a few of your beliefs, and I don’t think Karma is in there.

100% agree. She’s a real nice lady if you treat her well.

Lol, I don’t know how to take that. I know that if you pay for one battery, get three and say nothing because you are prejudiced against the nationality that sold it, you deserve to stub your toe or something.

Don’t disagree…better make “tripping hazards” the toolbox talk for tomorrow… I meant I think you’re reason for doing the right thing is probably a little bit more than just karma.

I try to go out of my way to not bring politics or religion here, mainly cause I’m far from perfect, but my faith rubs thru occasionally

as it should…we don’t have to get deep into our theology in here, but our “why” says a lot about everything we say and do…

But still what? On paper everything is all square on their part thousands of miles away. It would cost them more money for me to ship them back than what they are worth. Why would I even bother contacting them about it? Do you know what it costs to ship 17 lbs from Indiana to mainland China? They filed a claim with UPS about it being lost and sent more items. I’m not wasting my time to muddy up the waters to tell them both them and UPS mixed things up. Come on…

OK…I think we understand

They, in good faith sent you the other batteries. In similar good faith I would at least offer to return. They’d probably decline, but I would sleep better the 4 hours/night I sleep. Sometimes it’s the thought that counts.

Since my season is over and I am contemplating adding solar to my home, I have revisited your post. What would you say are the disadvantages you have run across since using it? I’m with you, everything I have read and the videos I have watched shows that they are truly superior to lead acid and agms in every conceivable metric. A lot of the ones I looked at are waterproof, which is great in our environment. These lifepro seem pretty reliable as some people have pushed megawatts through them (banks obviously). Any issues with recharging? Did you set up any kind of management on the battery to cut it off at 20 percent or anything?

No issues at all yet after 2 years on this battery. No idea how close I’ve been to running it dead yet. The most houses washed with my setup in a day was 3 and it was pumping perfect the whole time. No loss in power at all. I believe it’s full 13.5v for 95% capacity. Something like that…I let it recharge over night with a slow 1 amp charger for lithium batteries.

Thanks for the reply. I have read that you don’t want to ever run them to zero, but maybe I am mistaken. I have also read that they don’t like to charge in cold weather and some people add a small heating element. I don’t know if you have ran into any issues with this, but I think you are in the north.

The thing I like the most is that you can hook up several together and run equipment and set an automatic shutoff so you never run them below a certain threshold. Of course some other doodads get involved but the idea is that I could run a pump off a stack as well as my rig. Of course every reseller and their brother is pushing the “generators” that are really just batteries with a charging port (solar/AC).

Well I’m not out washing houses in freezing temps and I always keep my pump setup insure the garage, so cold isn’t an issue. But yes, lithium doesn’t like cold.
