Large Hotel Roof

so i’ve got a possible opportunity to clean the roof of a hotel in my town. here are some pics of the size of it (one is just snowy). i haven’t had any major commercial jobs, especially like this. I have no idea how to price this job. any suggestions? Thanks!

What would you clean it with

50/50 12.5 and water with cling on

12 volt?

Cus I have my doubts that you could hit that peak from a ladder… which complicates things considerably.

So your looking at possibly useing a lift. Does your insurance cover that? Does your insurance cover commercial work. Does the customer want it done at night(doubtful from a hotel) so your going to have to shut sections of the parking lot down. Adress Run off issues. Lotsa moving parts. Figure out as many issues as you can, then think of more, then figure out the price that makes it worth it and add 750 bucks. It ain’t worth the time unless you feel overpaid for the work. Just my opinion.

$2000 4 hours
$400 for one day lift rental
$2400 total
You will need to have a guy posted at all exits at all times to direct foot traffic

Yeah i would use my x jet with a backpack tank from an aerial lift. there is a rental place right down the road for those. i’ve figured out what to do with the runoff. i’ll need to call my insurance to find out about my coverage. 2500-3000 seems to be close to what i’m thinking. i would feel overpaid so i guess that’s good😂 i hope i’m not in over my head here but hey you have to go big sometimes

That doesn’t seem like the best idea

Disregard my msg until you use the search function correctly. Type ROOF CLEANING. Then spent several hours reading. Your xjet is the wrong tool for the job

Curious to know how you got the opportunity to bid for this job

i’ve done days of research on x jet vs a 12 volt pump vs everything else. i already have the x jet and don’t have a pump yet. plus being in the lift, i’ll be basically on the roof so range isn’t an issue. the only problem with it is i’ll have to go down to refill the tank a lot lol

Just put the lift on the peek and pour 1 gallon jugs of pool shock on the roof. I’m sure it will be fine.

a buddy of mine knows the owner of the building through his trucking company and put in a good word

i’m fairly new to the industry but you sound trustworthy to me! I’ll try your technique :joy:

And they contacted you for a quote?

You might wana just pre spend the profit from the job on a bare bones 12 v set up. I’ve heard an x jet can sometime work… but you know a 12 v will for sure. I’d hate for you to find out one way or another on the lift above your first big job.

he asked for a number but like i said, it’s a possible opportunity. he could just be patronizing me for all i l know. friend of a friend type thing. would just like to be prepared in any case

How many square feet of roof? Are you going to rinse? You can put together a good 12v system for $600. I wouldn’t consider it wo it. Good luck! :+1:

thanks for the advice! I’ll probably have to bite the bullet and get the pump soon. Just hard when i’ve spent so much on my setup already lol
